The multi-award-winning Tessendier Saison Rum has its roots in Barbados, Trinidad, and Jamaica. While all of them bring distinct qualities to this Cellar Master selection, this blend also benefits from a distinctly French twist, thanks to its journey halfway around the world to Cognac and the expert hands of Jerome Tessendier. His talent in producing the very best of aromatic taste profiles means this quality rum will delight anyone who loves Cognac, or indeed any premium spirits.

Boasting notes of rancio that one would normally only expect to find in a well-aged Cognac, the Tessendier Saison Rum beautifully combines the savoir-faire of the Charente region and the paradise climate of the Caribbean. The name ‘saison’ (season) evokes the importance of terroir, seasonality and climate when it comes to creating the perfect spirit. 

This blend combines rums made in pot and column stills, creating depth and complexity. The pot still gives a full-bodied richness and intensity, while a delicate freshness is achieved in a column still. The rums are aged in American white oak casks for up to five years in each of their terroirs of origin. Here, the heat and humidity of the Caribbean creates an intense relationship between spirit and wood, allowing richer flavors to develop. The casks are then transported to France, to be blended by Jerome Tessendier using his savoir-faire inherited from Cognac. They are matured for a further nine months in old Limousin oak barrels, creating harmony and balance. No sugar is added, and it is reduced to 42% ABV.

Serving Suggestion

We think this rum is the perfect base for a Pineapple Old Fashioned. Double the recipe and you can serve it for you and a friend in the two glasses as well!

• 60ml Saison Rum
• 10ml Pineapple Syrup
• 4 drops Cardamom Bitters
• 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Stir all ingredients with ice in a mixing glass, then strain into an old-fashioned tumbler filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a dehydrated pineapple slice or a zest of orange peel. Serve immediately.
