ABK6 Spiritu Cognac: Art and Cognac Intertwined

The ABK6 Spiritu Cognac is a masterpiece that was conceived and created for the 10th La Part des Anges auction in 2016, now an annual event held in Cognac by the BNIC. The eau-de-vie used to craft this expression is an extremely old Fins Bois delight from the beginning of the last century. It was sourced from the Paradise Cellar at Chez Maillard, a place where only the most special of Cognacs are stored. Handed down through the generations, the time had come for this outstanding cask to be bottled.

ABK6’s domain Chez Maillard sits on an exceptional chalky hilltop location, right in the middle of the family’s vineyards. Run by a father and daughter team, this house produces only their single estate Cognac, with all steps of the process - growing, distillation, maturation, blending and bottling - controlled by the family. 

Presentation of the Bottle

The extraordinary decanter and holder was designed by artists Céline Delcourt and Maria Perafan, along with the Abecassis family. It symbolises the vine rooted in exceptional soil - a reflection of the spirit of the house of ABK6 Cognac. The decanter features a bold bell shape and a heavy rounded base; the soft curves lead to an oversized crystal stopper, while a delicate gold design covers the glass to highlight the amber liquid contained within. A curved metal sculpture cradles the decanter like the roots of a grapevine. 

Spiritu means 'spirit' in Latin. Together, the sculpture, decanter, and Cognac merge to form one - inspired by nature and how she intertwines all of her creations. Truly one of a kind, this is a wonderful collector's Cognac.

Pour this exceptional Fins Bois Cognac into a tulip glass and let it rest for 30 seconds before taking a sip in order to let its aromas develop fully. Serve after a fine dinner, with dessert or simply on its own.
