The year of 1988 was in fact, a leap year that commenced on a Friday. A difficult but promising year in the Cognac region of France, the summer of 1988 experienced extremely dry conditions through a heatwave, which saw the vines dig deep for nutrients deep in the soil. To retain its aromatic profile, such precious eau-de-vie has been stored in the Bache Gabrielsen demi johns since 2013.

Bache Gabrielsen is a Cognac house currently run by Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen who is the fourth generation to take the ropes of the family business.
