Merlet VSOP Brothers Blend Cognac

The Merlet VSOP Brothers Blend Cognac combines eaux-de-vie of various ages, going from a minimum of four years up to some that are very well aged. This blend makes for a unique style, with the youngest bringing a fresh vibrancy and the older ones balancing this with complexity and maturity. Most of the components have been sourced from the Fins Bois terroir, with the addition of one from the Grande Champagne.  

Maison Merlet has been producing Cognac since 1850 and was founded by Gilles' grandfather Firmit Merlet. Located in the village of Saint Sauvant, the estate has been  achieving recognition from connoisseurs since its humble beginnings, with Monsieur Merlet even managing to earn the gold medal for his Cognac at the World Exhibition in 1900. 

With their estate spreading across the Fins Bois and Borderies terroirs, the family work with many winegrowers to source and distil eaux-de-vie from various crus all over the region, using the family's ancestral expertise to create award-winning and exciting Cognacs.

Blending classic design details with a modern shape, the bottle certainly stands out in its simplicity. The glass is embossed with the Merlet emblem and decorated with a simple but well-designed silver label. 

How to Enjoy Merlet VSOP Brothers Blend Cognac

This is an extremely versatile Cognac that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. Of course, it can be drunk in the traditional manner - neat - but we particularly like it over ice, which highlights the fruit aromas and brings some floral qualities to the fore. It would also be a great Cognac to use in cocktails, thanks to the fresh, delicate notes combining well with other ingredients without overpowering them.
