G A Gabriel Associes Cognac

G A Gabriel Associes Cognac

Recently, Alexandre Gabriel and cellar master Christian Guerin of Cognac Pierre Ferrand, started collaborating with smaller cognac producers in the Charente region to facilitate their cognacs being bottled and sold under their own name. The resulting product is called G&A, which used to stand for Gabriel and Andreu and now stands for Gabriel & Associés. Every bottle features the original producer of the cognac in order to give them the visibility they deserve. Due to the large investment needed for in-house cognac production, many small wine growers have difficulty in distilling, ageing, blending and bottling their own cognacs and instead are forced to sell their grapes or distilled eaux-de-vie to larger cognac houses. The house of Ferrand gives them the opportunity to produce their cognac all the way to the bottling and hence allows cognac lovers to experience a whole new range of cognacs from lesser known producers who would otherwise not exist.

History of Cognac G&A Gabriel et Associes

A separate arm of Cognac Ferrand, Gabriel & Associes was created specifically to offer cognacs that are unblended, coming from a single estate or chateau. As with all cognacs produced under the Ferrand empire, the emphasis is on producing individual, high quality artisan cognacs in the traditional methods that date back many decades. The concept behind Cognac Gabriel & Associés is simple – to provide the facilities and opportunity small cognac growers to produce their own product and allow it to be marketed and sold. By working with vineyard owners throughout the whole region of Cognac and collaborating closely with individual producers, it has been possible for Ferrand to produce very distinct and unique cognacs from each of the growing regions within the area.

Although Cognac G&A is a relatively new concept, the house of Ferrand has a history dating back hundreds of years. When Ferrand was set up as a modern business, it was by a man who was literally born into the wine making industry - Alexandre Gabriel. His years of experience and knowledge have been passed down through the years to the expertise that is tantamount in producing the cognac that we experience today.

Gabriel & Associés Cognac Today

In 2004, Ferrand invested in a state of the art blending hall, making them the most efficient production house in the whole of the Cognac region. By partnering with various small vineyard owners, each of the cognacs comes from a single chateau or estate and is not blended. These prestigious cognacs are only bottled to order, and each is sold under the G&A label with full details of the vineyard and terrain on the rear label of the bottle.

The cognacs produced are from the four different growing regions, Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois.
