Description
Louis Royer XXO Cognac
Louis Royer XXO steps beyond the classic XO, meeting the Extra Extra Old standard that requires every eau-de-vie in the blend to rest for at least 14 years in French oak. Sourced mainly from Fine Champagne crus and bottled at 40 % vol, it delivers a mature profile while keeping the round fruit character that has marked the house since its founding in 1853 in Jarnac.
Presentation of the bottle
The decanter is a broad-shouldered square bottle with a heavy glass base that shows the Cognac’s deep amber hue. A gold-tone stopper crowns a midnight-blue collar scripted with “Louis Royer.” The front carries a minimalist cream label stating “Louis Royer XXO,” underlined by the maison’s interlaced “LR” monogram in gold. The bottle slides out from a natural-wood frame that doubles as a display case, paired with a warm chestnut-brown cover stamped in gold lettering—both stylish and practical for shelf or cellar.
How to drink
Serve neat in a tulip glass at room temperature. A few minutes of air will open layers of dried fruit and gentle spice; adding a single drop of water can emphasise the sherry-toned finish without reducing body. Pair with a square of 70 % dark chocolate or a mild cigar to echo the spirit’s tobacco accents.
