Description
Hennessy Cognac XXO Hors d’Age
An even more mature development of their XO, the Hennessy XXO Hors d’Age Cognac is a head turner, and a must for any avid collector. Hennessy, one of the largest Cognac houses in the world, have dipped into their vast chais to blend a Cognac of the newest age denomination, the XXO.
Officially, the XXO age category is aged for longer than 14 years, but considering this is a Hors d’Age version of their XO, it’s been aged for far, far longer. This is a rich tapestry of Hennessy’s finest spirits, and contains some spirits aged for more than 50 years.
Crafted by Hennessy’s seventh generation Master Blender, Yann Fillioux, is said to be “as pertinent as ever”, “rich”, “expressive” - with notes of bitter orange, freshly grated nutmeg, licorice, peppermint leaf and delicate spices. A true masterpiece.
The introduction of the latest age category has caused a certain buzz throughout the region, and offers an exciting opportunity for cellar masters, blenders and distillers to create something that has never been seen before.
Despite some controversy, the XXO category is now official. And LVMH justified the launch by claiming that it had already used the label before aging terms were developed. In fact, Hennessy made an XXO as early as 1872, but production stopped in the early 20th century.
Presentation of the Cognac Hennessy XXO
The 1 liter decanter is an even more contemporary and angular version of the XO decanter. The ‘glass-cut’ shape and chrome stopper give it some serious edge. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

I always wanted to buy Hennessy XXO Hors d’Age Cognac just to see what the taste would be like if I was to spend close to a $1000.00 -$2000,00 for a bottle of quality cognac. I finally bought it and to my surprise it was opened and in my glass and I can’t wait to pour me another glass. It was...
Does not meet my expectations
does not meet expectations. for xxo. and if you drink it after drinking a little old little family knife you lose the total effect. you will be only with disappointment. and any honest knowledge and even a novice can feel different. disappointing. for such an expected xxo, the braunstein family.
XO and XXO
Hard to describe the unique taste and smell. Just with a sip from my experience with the cognacs, I would say “amazing!!!” Then the second sip is when it’s the best! Some have a strong kick, some are just extremely smooth. I wouldn’t say I’m an expert. But it’s blessing to be able to experience...
Exquisite
I love this Cognac. Very pleasant nose - I detect bitter orange and definitely liquorish. Very nice and not too spicy palette. My favorite with this Cognac is the finish last almost forever. It is so nice you can taste it for almost 10 minutes. Just need another sip.......
About Hennessy Cognac
You may think, that with Hennessy’s ability to innovate and push boundaries, they are a thoroughly ‘modern’ Cognac brand. This is a large part of their immense success and influence. The very French brand based in the Charente region, in fact, dates all the way back to 1765 - to Ireland - but have managed to shapeshift enough times to remain more relevant than ever before - with current Master Blender Renaud Fillioux. Their range of uber-trendy products is ever expanding, and their marketing campaigns all the more captivating. There is no doubt that ‘Henny’ culture is alive and kicking: both Cognac and a fifth of Hennessy are mentioned in what seems like hundreds of songs.
