Description
Vallein Tercinier Roots XO Cognac
A blend of the best eaux-de-vie selected from the Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois crus, Vallein Tercinier Roots XO Cognac is a tribute to roots and ancestral tradition that surround the art of blending. Combining eaux-de-vie of various different ages and terroirs, the blend is at least 10 years old and contains some eaux-de-vie that spent even longer aging in oak casks. Not chill filtered, Roots XO boasts its natural amber color. Delicious notes of orange zest and nuts tantalize evoke temptation on the nose before aromas of vanilla, cinnamon and brioche immerse through the senses with a lingering minty finish.
The house of Vallein Tercinier are a proud family of cellar masters that have benefitted from five generations of wisdom, expertise and the all-important secrets behind producing some of the very best eaux-de-vie of the Champagne region.
Presentation of the bottle
Reflecting upon the theme of “roots”, the presentation features a golden illustration of a grounded vine and its sprawling branches. It is through the roots that the grapes are enriched with the nutrients and minerals required in order to produce the sweet nectar contained inside this contemporary bottle. Adding an air of sophistication, black and gold accents display the Cognac’s details in style. Housed in a curvaceous, wide-set bottle, this XO will sit beautifully in any spirit’s collection.
How to enjoy
As this is an old and mature Cognac - it is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature. However, for those who are open to a more adventurous tasting experience, the sweet and nutty notes and the long-lasting finish of this Cognac also pair perfectly with the right dessert. Serve with sweet creme brulee or a citrus fruit tart for a tasting experience of pure pleasure.

Whimsical packaging
the content is convincing. The combination of spices like cinnamon and vanilla, together with citrus fruits reminds me of pastries and confectionery. I like this interplay of flavours. Another producer I would not have become aware of without Cognac Expert.
Nice Entry Level and Bargain XO
A blend of Grande & Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois. Lovely orange greets the nose, and really dominant. As it opens, some nut appears, although I can’t put my finger on what type. Not complex, but a lovely nose nonetheless. After a few more minutes in the glass, the orange reappears. It is...
Another fine Cognac by Vallein Tercinier: XO Roots
Tasted from a sample of this year´s Advaent Calendar: Dark golden colour with amber reflections. The nose is quite young and spicy, but also with fine fruity notes of dried oranges and orange peels. On the palate a lot of bitter-oranges, orange peels and spices. The finish for me is medium at...
A young tasteful XO
This is the newest edition in Vallein's standard range. It is around 15 years old, and is a blend of 30-40 different distillates from various crus. This cognac has a dark golden color and is very rich on the nose. I find clear tones of citrus and orange marmalade. In mouth I find a lot of spices...
wonderful subtle cognac
This wonderful cognac was recently recommended to me as matching my tastes after completing a survey at cognac expert. the nose brings beautiful notes of orange, vanilla, brioche and cinnamon. This is my second tasting of this marvellous cognac. It starts extremely smooth and subtle. Then you...
Rooting for the root
On the nose: There’s immediately a hot, tannic and astringent sensation. Behind the heat are light to medium aromas of cinnamon, leather, cloves, the top of a creamy puffy cake with grapes, honey, vanilla, nuts with skin, leather, nutmeg, and brioche. In the mouth: More astringent than on the...
About Vallein Tercinier Cognac
With over 500 years of history, the artisan house of Vallein Tercinier is one that deserves the attention of all Cognac lovers – from those new to eaux-de-vie to the connoisseur. This brother and sister team bring an expertise to craft Cognac that's just aching to be discovered.
Many of their Cognac's have been awarded top class awards in many industry competitions, and this has meant a growing awareness of their products in some quarters. But, as with the aging process of Cognac, such a small craft brand is often lost amongst the noise razzmatazz of the 'big boys'. And that really is a crime, because as many esteemed connoiseurs are finding out, the offerings of Vallein Tercinier are of superb quality, unique, and once you've discovered them, will become a 'must have' brand to always have in your drinks cabinet.
Catherine and Louis are very proud to have stepped into the shoes of their many ancestors. And as is in keeping with family tradition, the've continued to move the company forward, whilst remaining true to the pure art of Cognac production. They've adapted the facilities to take full advantage of modern technology, and continue to produce some very special Cognacs indeed.
