Mature, elegant cognac - Tesseron Lot N°29
Mature complex nose, honey, dried fruits, chocolate, mocha and fine oak. On the palate dark chocolate, coffee and dried fruits. The finish is elegant and persisting with bitter orange marmelade, chocolate spread on fine oak.
Age comes to us all
I’m a big fan of the Tesseron range. The oldest of the ‘Lot’ series, it’s no surprise that this has lost some of the spark and vigour you would find in its younger siblings. This is incredibly delicate and perfumed, with some enjoyable chocolate and mild tobacco on the finish.
Balance
Look, I have drunk more Cognac / Brandy than I care to mention!!! In this instance, in regard to the Lot: 29 , may I say - it is sublime...Alas!...there are some critiques - namely, Age! There is definitely an age where a spirit regresses to a wine like state and this is one of them. Probably 50...
About Tesseron Cognac
Tesseron Cognac specializes in high-end Cognac, exclusively producing “XO and beyond” blends from their ancestral home in Chateauneuf-sur-Charente, which lies between Cognac and Angouleme. When founder Abel Tesseron, whose face features on the company’s logo, acquired the property in the late 19th century, he patiently conserved his stocks of eaux-de-vie in the 12th-century crypt located deep underneath the domain, selling his matured masterpieces to various larger Cognac houses. These reserved and rare stocks have become legendary amongst Cognac connoisseurs the world over. It was, however, only in 2003 that the fourth generation of Tesserons made the decision to release a range under their own name, armed with an unrivalled Cognac craftsmanship and fueled by the legacy left by their grandfather, the iconic brand Tesseron Cognac was born.
The Tesserons are also active in wine production, owning the esteemed Chateau Pontet-Canet, a Pauillac classified property producing Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux Wine.
