Richard Delisle Sélection d’Alexis Cabanne Cognac
The Richard Delisle Sélection d’Alexis Cabanne is a blend of carefully selected eaux-de-vie aged between 25 and 30 years, sourced from a trio of crus: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois. Bottled at a perfect 42% abv, this Cognac achieves its character through a long aging process in the house's most humid chai. Each component of the blend spent decades resting in old, wide-grain oak barrels with a medium chauffe (toast), tucked away in an extremely humid environment. This damp cellar is the secret to its magic—allowing for a patient maturation that coaxes out an incredibly loaded, expressive, extroverted and ester-rich aromatic profile. There is an aroma here that we can only associate with the most humid of cellars. Alex Cabanne himself states, “It is a Cognac loaded with esters.”
With zero additives and a completely natural color, what reaches your glass is the pure, unadulterated work of these crus, the barrel, the cellar alone, and perhaps most importantly, the touch of Alexis Cabanne. He’s put together a seriously old XO Cognac whose sum is more than the parts. Simply brilliant XO Cognac!
Presentation of the bottle
The cognac is presented in a clear cognac bottle that shows off its old gold colour. The white label carries the Richard Delisle crest, the Cognac appellation, and the signed mention Selection d’Alexis Cabanne. Bottled at 70cl.
How to drink
Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass to let the esters open up. There is no need for ice or water at 42%. Ideal after a meal, with or without a square of dark chocolate.

Richard Delisle Selection d'Alexis
Quite an extroverted nose and a very loaded/charged nose showcasing all sorts of aromas. Candied and dried fruit - really nothing fresh about the fruits here. On the road to heavy rancio. A dank musty dam earth humid cellar, what I imagine the cellar this one aged in smells like. A shade or darker...
