Tasting review

Eye: Glimmering antique gold.

Nose: Bright and intense nose with tobacco, leather, nuts and dried fruits, all finished off with a hint of liquorice wood. Very deep and well balanced.

Palate: Initially soft with some fine tannins, developing into sumptuous toffee, cocoa, chocolate, butter and rancio. The finish is excellent, balancing out the sweeter notes and leaving a very clean mouth.

Special Edition including 2 Tasting Glasses.

Prunier XO Carafe: A Cognac of Exceptional Value

Comprised of eaux-de-vie from several different growing regions, the Prunier XO Carafe Cognac has been matured for around 15 years in French oak at Maison Pruinier’s cellars by the River Charente. The years have given this XO a range of deep, golden brown tones, a complex nose and elegant rancio on the palate. For such a great quality Cognac, this also offers exceptional value for money - it really is a superb staple XO to own.

The House of Prunier specializes in the art of aging and blending carefully selected stocks. Unlike many other producers, they do not cultivate their own grapes; instead, they purchase directly from winegrowers and distillers all around Cognac. This way, they can select the best vintages from any cru. The notorious quality of their cellars, both at the historical site in the heart of Cognac and in Gimeux, contributes to the astonishing quality of Prunier Cognac. For five generations, this house has been perfecting the tradition of Cognac maturation and blending, exploring the unlimited possibilities of flavor that are created in this region.

Today, Cognac Prunier is owned by the son and daughter of Jean Burnez, who took over the company from his aunt when her husband Alphonse Prunier passed away in 1918 without any direct descendants.

Presentation of the Bottle

Prunier’s Extra Old expression comes in a curved, classic carafe. From its substantial glass base to the large golden stopper, this is a bottle that exudes quality and can take pride of place in any Cognac collection. The cardboard gift box features an illustration of La Vieille Maison ('The Old House'), a protected historical landmark in the centre of Cognac that has long been a symbol of the House of Prunier.

How to Enjoy Prunier XO Carafe Cognac

This is a Cognac to savor slowly. Enjoy it neat, perhaps warmed in your hand - or, for the adventurous, why drop in a rock or two of ice for a subtle alteration of the tasting experience. Whichever way you enjoy your Cognac, Prunier XO Carafe is suitable for a range of occasions: after dinner, late into the evening, or saved for special occasions.
