Description
La Peraudière Grande Champagne Cognac
This especial Normandin Mercier La Peraudière Cognac is the product of a wonderful array of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie. It was assembled in celebration of the 140th anniversary of the Normandin Mercier maison, founded in 1872.
The ‘Premier Cru’ region of Cognac is treasured for its unique microclimate of calcareous and chalky soil. Its porous quality creates the most stringent of blends, such as La Peraudière in its wonderful cube-shaped decanter. The casks chosen for its maturation process are centenary oak trees grown on La Péraudière estate, and this small part of the Charente forest is selected for the quality of the grain produced. La Peraudière rose from these very casks, hence its name.
What makes La Peraudière Cognac shine among the rest, is that it is harvested in its terroir, and then matured further afield on the outskirts of La Rochelle. Firstly it was left for three years to age in the open air, and then moved to its high-grain casks. This French town is notably close to where the continent meets the sea; helping to age the blend like no other. This celebratory Cognac release is one that is produced in harmony with the elements.
The Normandin Mercier Cognac house is one that is steeped in history, as a result of their long family tradition. Edouard Normandin and his family produce the finest of Cognacs using eaux-de-vie from the Grande and Petite Champagne crus.
How to enjoy La Peraudière Cognac
Only a select batch of 1000 bottles has been produced for the release of this first edition Cognac, so once they’re gone, they’re gone. It is a highly exclusive release and not to be missed!
This amber liquid of 50cl is packaged in a delightful geometric bottle, that will stand out among any other Cognac in your cabinet. Enjoy it neat.

A bourbon-ish Cognac?
Color: honey On the nose: Woody and floral. I get long and medium aromas of dried apricots, oak, honey, cinnamon syrup, rancio, and leather. The rancio is more like a shiitake mushroom-based sauce instead of the more usual astringent dry shiitake mushrooms I get in other old Grande Champagne...
What a fantastic high-proofed Grande Champagne!
I really love that typical Grande Champagne taste paired with that 45% of alcohol. For me it's one of my absolute favorite Cognacs as it pairs fruitiness and some very nice smoky and woody notes. Well done, Edouard! I always let my friends taste this Cognac if they haven't been in touch with Cognac...
