Description
An XO Cognac from the Grande Champagne
Introducing an artisanal Cognac created in harmony with the natural elements of the region. Descending from the undulating fields of the Premier Cru, the Méry Melrose XO Cognac is a great spirit created with the utmost savoir-faire. This Cognac house use certified Ugni Blanc grape varieties to produce such exceptional eaux-de-vie. Méry Melrose strives to create feel-good blends with bright aroma and flavor, and this particular Melrose XO Cognac has been matured between 12 and 20 years in both new and old French oak casks and is a broad and potent blend. The presentation of this decanter makes it extra special, as it is designed as a tribute to the prehistoric wall paintings in French caves.
The Grande Champagne terroir has been chosen for this Eaux-de-vie thanks to its incredible geological makeup and ability to produce glorious Cognacs. The soil is chalky, and the subsoil limestone. Alongside its maritime climate, these are all factors that contribute to such an elegant XO.

The Méry Melrose story
Described as both ‘farmer and artist’, Master Blender Francois and Janis Méry created the Cognac brand after being inspired by their love for each other; the rose represents love for their family and craft as viticulturists. Francois is a fourth generation Cognac distiller, and has both tradition and his modern innovation to thank. As a young man, he traveled to Australia to work for an independent biodynamic wine producer and felt inspired to bring his ideas back to France.
The process takes place at the Maison from start to finish; from harvesting the grapes, to distilling and blending. The ageing process takes place in their family cellars; the Cognac ageing in both old and new Limousin oak barrels of 400 liter capacity.
