Description
A Single Grosperrin Borderies Cognac
This very old Cognac, the Grosperrin No. 64 Borderies Cognac, comes from an indivision that was established at the death of the winemaker several years ago. His widow and children patiently managed the inheritance in memory of their father. One of the children then took over the property, who has since become a large landowner in the Borderies cru. The grandfather's stock is managed separately, however, and housed in a separate cellar in the center of the village of Burie at the heart of the Borderies region. It comes from a very small farm and indicates that it is everything a Borderies Cognac should be.
The current owners came to possess the Grosperrin No 64 Borderies cask through Grosperrin, who worked as a négociant-éleveur. It has since it was purchased, aged in the Grosperrin family cellar of Saintes, on the banks of the Charente river. It has only been reduced slightly more than three years ago.
Grosperrin is one of the last independent Cognac houses. The company philosophy is to maintain individual grower batches, without blending them with others, producing a wide array Cognacs from all appellations.
This Cognac has been bottled at 52.1% ABV.
How to enjoy the Borderies No.64 Cognac

About Grosperrin Cognac
The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.
Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
