Description
Grosperrin 15 year old Grande Champagne Cognac
The Grande Champagne 15 ans, bottled at 48.2% ABV, is a Cognac that reveals layers beyond its labeled age. Originating from an estate in Mainxe, nestled in the hills of Marancheville, this Cognac holds a special history. Once cultivated by a passionate and meticulous distiller who was known for his rigorous tasting standards, this Cognac embodies the essence of his devotion. Since the owner’s passing, the vineyard has changed hands, and the remaining stocks were acquired by heirs, with this exceptional Cognac among them.
This 15-year-old Cognac offers a youthful golden color and a beautifully elevated aroma profile. On the nose, it reveals subtle moisture, releasing a blend of spices such as cinnamon sticks and black pepper, balanced with gentle floral notes of iris. The palate provides a smooth entry, leading to a lively finish, accentuated by the recent reduction, adding an invigorating touch to the tasting experience. While this batch has been freshly bottled, it already displays much promise, with even greater potential anticipated in future releases.
Presentation of the bottle
This Grande Champagne Cognac is presented in an elegant and understated bottle that emphasizes its refined quality. Its classic design reflects the craftsmanship of traditional Cognac-making, creating a fitting display for this remarkable spirit.
How to drink
The Grande Champagne 15 ans is best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate its layered aromas and complex flavors. For those seeking a slightly lighter experience, a single ice cube or a few drops of water can subtly enhance the spice notes without overpowering the taste. This Cognac is an excellent choice for both collectors and enthusiasts, offering a memorable tasting experience with each sip.
About Grosperrin Cognac
The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.
Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
