Godet XO Fine Champagne Cognac: Powerful and Complex Craftsmanship in Every Sip
Powerful and complex, Godet XO Fine Champagne is the true expression of the top tier terroirs of Cognac. A blend of Petite and Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, it celebrates the floral finesse that can be found in the region, preserving its pleasant aromas after spending 25 years in the famous Paradis cellars of the Godet estate.
Now run by the 15th generation of a Cognac dynasty; Jean Edouard, Maxime and Cyril Godet have taken the heritage, history and craftsmanship of their ancestors before them and ran with it, elevating the estate by creating a legendary and luxurious brand with 500 years of savoir-faire under their belt. Master blender (and 15th generation Godet) Jean-Edouard isn't afraid to incorporate his heritage and history into his work, producing some exquisite Cognacs with his ancestors acting as a muse for his creations. The XO Fine Champagne is a fitting tribute to the family's past, as it has spent a quarter of a century on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
This creation is not only superb to sip, but pays homage to seventh-generation Godet, Gédéon-Louis, who was appointed Deputy-Commissioner of the Dutch Royal Navy. This nautical career created a connection with the sea that the family have nurtured for over 200 years, with each of their Cognac's being aged in the salty air of La Rochelle.
The particularly humid environment works magic on the eaux-de-vie during the aging process, and this particular XO has been maturing for 25 years in the estate's most ancient cellars. Thanks to this climate, the Godet XO Fine Champagne truly makes for a unique and stand-out sensory exploration of the two premier crus, presented in a stunning decanter and crafted with 500 years of savoir-faire.
How to Enjoy
The complex and powerful flavors found in the Godet XO Fine Champagne are best enjoyed neat, in a traditional tulip glass or brandy balloon. It would make an exciting digestif following a cheese course and the decanter's design would certainly be a talking point at your next dinner party.
Presentation of the Decanter
In an exquisite Art Deco-inspired piece, the XO Fine Champagne decanter is certainly one to be displayed. The jagged shapes cut into this crystal decanter are reminiscent of a cabochon-cut diamond, allowing this Cognac to assert itself as a luxurious and timeless masterpiece, appealing to every single sense. The bottle is accented with silver detailing on its stopper, label and neck and comes with a complimentary copper and silver-colored cardboard presentation case of gifting or storage purposes.
About Godet Cognac
The house of Godet has been run by the family for 14 generations. It is a perfect example of a cognac house that deeply believes in the tradition of this spirit and its origins. At the same time, Godet manages to move with modern times, having recently created a cognac from a grape that is almost extinct in the cognac industry: Folle Blache. This cognac is called "Antarctica Godet" and was inspired by a 2-month sailing trip to the South Pole.
