Description
A Gold award-winning XO Cognac
Ever since their Cognac won prizes at the 1905 Universal Exposition in Lieges, Belgium, this Cognac house have continued to produce award winning Cognacs such as the Gilbert XO Hommage Cognac, that cinched a gold medal in 2019 and is now available in limited quantities.
Everything about the Coupe No 1 XO Cognac is truly one of a kind. Cellar Master François Gilbert presents us with a well-aged Extra Old Cognac, aged for at least 10 years in French oak casks on the estate in Rétaud, an area that straddles the Fins Bois and Bons Bois terroirs.
Stylistically inspired by the art nouveau of Gilbert’s golden age, the design of the XO bottle is nothing short of prestigious. Founded by Séverin Gilbert at the end of the 18th century, his great grandson now revives his legacy “through the eaux-de-vie from singular terroirs, expressing refinement and elegance." - François Gilbert, 2018. This XO Cognac is a homage to his great-grandfather and the unique savoir-faire that has been passed down today.
There are only 652 bottles available from this blend, so get it while you can.
The fine limestone quality of the soil has caught the attention of critics since the maison was founded in 1885, and today continues to produce incredible Cognacs such as the Extra Old.

Cognac Gilbert XO Bottle
Proofed and bottled at 40% ABV, we adore the slim Cognac bottle with its gold seal. The label is intricately illustrated with a host of golden and berry pink tones in the shape of a blossoming tree. This bottle is graphically inspired by the art nouveau print that was popular around the time founder Séverin Gilbert took his Cognac to the World Fair in Belgium, and will take pride of place in any drinks collection.
It also comes with a gorgeous ivory circular presentation box with gold detailing.
How to serve Cognac Gilbert XO
This Cognac can be served neat and at room temperature to bring out its full aromatic potential, but can also be experimented with over ice. We recommend trying the XO Gilbert in a Negroni cocktail.

Extraordinary for a Fine Champagne called Blend
Yesss this Fine Champagne does deserve an order. Nothing to do with the usual Fines Champagnes. Grande Champagne and Fins Bois dominate. Original: Ouiii cette Fine Champagne mérite effectivement un ordre. Rien avoir avec les Fines Champagnes habituelles. Grande Champagne et Fins Bois domin...
Toast cognac
Inadvertently from cognac expert network to understand this Gilbert XO Cognac, really surprising. When you open the bottle cap, you will see the fragrance of flowers and dried fruits. When you sober up, there is the fragrance of orange behind. Take a sip of cognac, showing a clear taste of toast,...
About Gilbert Cognac
Having tended to vines since the end of the 18th century in Rétaud, Séverin was the first of the Gilbert family to create a Cognac in his own name in 1885.
The terroir of Rétaud is on the border of the Bons Bois and Fins Bois terroirs, and has always been known for the quality of its eaux-de-vie. The limestone content of the soil of Rétaud meant that Cognac Gilbert was awarded at the Universal Exhibition of Liège, Belgium in 1905.
Today, the family tradition is upheld through François Gilbert, the great-grandson of Séverin, who selects and assembles eaux-de-vie to make award-winning blends from singular terroirs.
