Description
Giboin XO Reserve de la Famille Cognac
A mix of being distilled with its own and added lees, Giboin XO Reserve de la Famille Cognac is a beautifully balanced Cognac. Uniquely blended with the house of Giboin’s oldest eaux-de-vie, dating back to 1962 it is a rare ‘tri-generational’ Cognac. With contrasting floral fragrances alongside hints of subtle spice, the smell alone of this Cognac leaves a lasting impression. Upon tasting beautiful notes of dried fruits, roasted almonds, chocolate, black tea, oak and nutmeg also linger and immerse the senses.
With hundreds of years worth of expertise under their belt, it’s safe to say, the close-knit family running Maison Giboin know a thing or two about Cognac. Based in both the Borderies and Fins bois crus, Giboin are artisanal masters in the creation of quality products characteristic of the region and subsoil. Offering a variety of unique Cognacs and Pineau de Charentes, the house of Giboin is a notable brand that deserves a firm place in any Cognac collection.

Big, Bold, Rich
The headline sums it up. This cognac is a heavy hitter. Lots of big, bold flavors! Just opening the bottle you immediately start to smell toasted nuts and barrel spices. Once in the glass, it really opens up nicely after a few minutes. Cedar, lilac, and a caramel sweetness present strongly. The palate...
Alternative Flavors
A group of friends came to my house for a party and opened this bottle of cognac after dinner. The nose could smell a faint violet floral aroma, slowly presenting some indescribable spice flavor. After a sip, I felt a bit of chocolate cream, baked cake and cardamom. Thanks to the cognac expert...
About Giboin Cognac
Giboin is an expert producer of both Cognac and Pineau de Charentes, with 60 acres (24 hectars) of vineyards in both the Borderies and Fins Bois Cognac growing areas of the Charente. This family run, traditional brand has a history stretching back to the early part of the nineteenth century, and exclusively produces a very limited amount of Cognac per year. Using predominantly Ugni Blanc grapes, but Merlot too, Giboin strives to remain committed to the methods used by the family’s founders, and for a small house curates a surprisingly versatile and wide range of Cognac and Pineau products.
