Description
Frapin XO 15 Years Old Cognac - 100% Grande Champagne
Introducing the Frapin “15 Years Old” XO Cognac, which descends from one single-family estate in the Premier Cru of the region’s terroirs. The 240-hectare vineyard is located at the heart of the Grande Champagne appellation and is a gorgeous blend of eaux-de-vie crafted by the Frapin Cellar Master, Patrice Piveteau.
He comments, “Frapin 15 Years Old has been bottled at cask strength and bears the seal of the house which signifies our quest for authenticity. It passes directly from the barrel to bottle with no adjustment or chill-filtering in order to preserve all of the naturally rich aromas and flavors of this Cognac.”
Demonstrating impeccable skills in alchemy, it is an XO that has been aged in both humid and dry cellars. The humidity of the former gives the Cognac roundness, full body and a richesse, and the latter gives a fine, elegant quality.
Frapin have developed a reputation for producing fine Cognacs that perfectly blends tradition and modernity. Established in the region as far back as 1270, the Frapin family have passed down generations of savoir-faire.
Presentation
We love the delicate white, embossed label of the Frapin 15 ans d'âge Cognac. Bottled at 45.3% ABV, it has a slightly higher proof.
About Frapin Cognac
The Frapin family has been around the Southwest of France since 1270. Always active in the domain of winegrowing, they specialized in distillation much later on and have since continued to stand strong throughout twenty one generations! The estate owns 340 hectares of land entirely in the Grande Champagne area, of which 240 are planted with vines. Frapin’s home in the beautiful castle Fontpinot in the town of Segonzac. The most famous family member was the 16th century author Francois Rabelais, after whom a prestigious Frapin Cognac bottle is named: The Cuvee Rabelais, rather fittingly, the house of Frapin is also the only Cognac estate granted permission to call itself a Chateau within the entire Grande Champagne cru. Alongside many other accolades, Frapin was the first Cognac producer to invent a multi-vintage blend, combining vintages of different years to create the perfect taste.
