Description

A Premier Cru Cognac from the Grande Champagne

The Frapin Cigar Blend Vieille Grande Champagne Cognac has been, as the name suggests, created specifically to pair with your favorite cigar.  This XO quality, Grande Champagne Cognac is a single estate reserve, made from eaux-de-vie grown on the Frapin Estate.

The Grande Champagne isn’t called the Premier Cru for nothing - the chalk content in the soil makes for fantastic eaux-de-vie that is fine with a long-lasting finish. The Frapin family has been in this part of the region since 1270, and have always been active in the winegrowing domain.

Twenty generations later, and the estate comprises 300 hectares of land in the Grande Champagne, with the Chateau Fontpinot overlooking majestically in the town of Segonzac.

It's a powerful yet harmonious Cognac, that delights with the complexity of its flavors.  Think candied apricots, cigar box, and a subtle yet noticeable hint of old port.

And of course, as one would expect from a Cognac of this quality, the much desired 'rancio' that only occurs in after many years of aging.  And we have to say, it has a finish that's almost miraculous in terms of length...

All in all, a wonderful Cognac that's perfect for the purpose in which it is intended.

Presentation

Arrives in a simple 70cl bottle with the Frapin Cognac appellation, having been harvested, distilled, aged and blended in the region.

About Frapin Cognac

The Frapin family has been around the Southwest of France since 1270. Always active in the domain of winegrowing, they specialized in distillation much later on and have since continued to stand strong throughout twenty one generations! The estate owns 340 hectares of land entirely in the Grande Champagne area, of which 240 are planted with vines. Frapin’s home in the beautiful castle Fontpinot in the town of Segonzac. The most famous family member was the 16th century author Francois Rabelais, after whom a prestigious Frapin Cognac bottle is named: The Cuvee Rabelais, rather fittingly, the house of Frapin is also the only Cognac estate granted permission to call itself a Chateau within the entire Grande Champagne cru. Alongside many other accolades, Frapin was the first Cognac producer to invent a multi-vintage blend, combining vintages of different years to create the perfect taste.
