Eye: Rich and striking in appearance, the single cask takes on a deep mahogany coloring when presented in the decanter. Tinted highlights can also be seen, with some light amber and shiny elements also on display.

Nose: The best way to describe the nose would be intense. A powerful fragrance comes off the decanter and stays well into the glass. Hints of dark chocolate with smokey wood flavors are noticeable amidst an overtone of Muscat.

Palate: A deep and developed mouth that is very rich and powerful. Dark chocolate is noticeable initially with some hints of blackcurrant and darker fruits balancing the palate. Thanks to its single cask origin, they are some flavors of wood and burnt sugars towards the back and in the aftertaste.

Description

XO Single Cask Cognac from the Bon Bois terroir

Aged for a minimum of 10 years, the Domaine du Chene Single Cask Cognac descends from one barrel alone, taking inspiration from whisky production. Single casks of Cognac are left untouched and later bottled in limited quantities. Bottled at 43% ABV, this is a rare and innovative Cognac that puts its trust in the power of nature and the imparting of wood tannins into the cask for that final taste and aroma sensation.

Presentation of the Bottle

The amber finish on the bottle is very inviting, with a rich mahogany overtone and impressive golden/amber hue. The special Jean Doussoux Decanter is the perfect gift to friends, family or yourself! As elegant in presentation, as the Cognac is in taste, this is one to savor.

How to serve

The only way to serve a single cask is neat. Leave to breathe for a few minutes and enjoy the flavors develop by themselves.

About Domaine du Chêne

Located at the heart of the Romanesque Saintonge province is Domaine du Chêne, which has remained a family estate for several generations since Jean-Baptiste Doussoux bought his first still in 1865.

The vineyard now covers 80 hectares growing several different grapes, including rare and old varieties like the Folle Blanche, among other classic varieties such as the Ugni Blanc.

The vineyards themselves are over 80 years old and today produce a range of bespoke products including their "Domaine du Chêne" range and Cognac "Jean Doussoux".
