Description
Grande Champagne XO ‘Eagle’ Cognac from Delamain
An XO with a particularly interesting history, the Delamain L’Aigle XO Cognac revives the “rising eagle” crest, an ancient coat of arms granted by King Charles I of England to Nicholas Delamain, ancestor of the Cognac house in 1639. Older than their iconic Pale and Dry, it has been aged for far beyond a quarter of a century, and is bottled in fine Saverglass decanter.
As with all Delamain Cognacs, the blend is a subtle masterpiece of old Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie that results in a highly complex and elegant Cognac. The crest is a symbol of pride and boldness to create the finest XO Cognacs, and select them from the Premier Cru.
The original “Eagle” Cognac was in fact produced over 100 years beforehand by Jacques and Robert Delamain.
Presentation of L’Aigle XO
The decanter is designed by the French glass producer Saverglass. It arrives in a stunning drawer box that makes this a true collector’s item. The decanter is adorned with an eagle symbol that comes from the Delamain coat of arms granted by Charles I of England in 1639. Bottled at 40% ABV.
How to serve
A Cognac of this exclusive quality is best enjoyed as an after-dinner digestif, as a contemplative drink. Cool it to room temperature, or slightly chilled. Allow it to warm slowly in the glass, which will release waves of aroma. Then, pour around an inch of Cognac into a tulip-shaped snifter, while pausing to take in the aromas. Take small sips to appreciate the smoothness of the Cognac, and watch its layers unfold. The finish is lengthy - you’ll enjoy it long after its gone.
