Description
Couillaud XO Lot 76 Petite Champagne Cognac
The Couillaud XO Petite Champagne Cognac is a mature expression from the Petite Champagne cru, offering elegance and depth. On the nose it opens with rich notes of dried apricot and marmalade, softened by honey and smooth vanilla. With time in the glass, oak and warm spice emerge alongside a whisper of leather. Distilled in 1976, this XO Cognac has been aged for around 40 years.
On the palate, this XO reveals a full yet delicate texture: fruit sweetness balanced by gentle oak tannin, tobacco leaf, and subtle cocoa. The finish is long and polished, with echoes of dried fruits, spice, and a faint rancio that lingers. Overall, it delivers a refined and complex experience—an XO that both shows its age and remains approachable.
Presentation of the bottle
Please note: These Cognacs are still being prepared and will be ready around mid-November. Orders will be shipped once they are available.
The bottle has a tall, cylindrical form tapering gently toward the neck. It is sealed with a bronze‑coloured cap and foil. The label is dark, possibly black or deep brown, with gold and cream lettering. The name “Couillaud Cognac” appears prominently, along with “XO” and “Petite Champagne”. The lower section of the label carries additional text in smaller print. The overall look is sober and classic, evoking tradition more than modern flash.
How to drink
Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of distilled water to open up the aromas. Serve in a tulip or snifter glass at room temperature to allow its complexity to develop. Let it sit in the glass for a few minutes before tasting to catch evolving notes. Pairs well with dark chocolate, dried apricots, or a fine cigar for after‑dinner relaxation.
