Description

Château Montifaud XO Millenium Cognac

XO Cognac Château Montifaud opens the gates of the château's "Paradis" cellar where the oldest cognacs are carefully kept. Created via handcrafted distillation methods with lots of lees, the eaux-de-vie was the aged in French "roux" oak barrels before being transferred to French "old" barrels at the end of its maturation process. Combining eaux-de-vie that has been aged for much longer than the minimum required by the Cognac regulations when forming an XO quality Cognac, it is a value for money offering that won’t disappoint.

Due to the chalky land content and prominent limestone in the Petite Champagne region, high-quality eaux-de-vie is almost certainly guaranteed from the likes of Chateau de Montifaud and Cognac houses in this terroir. If you've not yet heard of Chateau de Montifaud, a bottle of Cognac XO is the ideal place to begin your journey into this typically traditional, family-run cognac house.

Presentation of the bottle

With its elegantly square design and golden embellishment - the presentation of Chateau de Montifaud Extra Cognac could be mistaken for a large perfume of cologne bottle. As a result, the bottle is ambiguously feminine (perhaps to attract female drinkers) and it oozes glamour and expensive taste.

How to enjoy

As aromas of dried fruits prevail through this Cognac, pair with pure, dark chocolate as the sweet and bitter nuances of the chocolate will particularly complement the candied spicy notes of the Cognac. Alternatively, Cognacs that have been aged for a long time like Chateau de Montifaud Extra can be enjoyed with the bold flavours of strong cheeses such Roquefort. Sip it neat to experience the Cognac at its utmost potential.

About Château de Montifaud

Owned by the family Vallet for six generations, Chateau de Montifaud Cognac boasts 125 hectares of vineyards that are located in both the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne growing regions. The house produces a large, high quality range of cognacs – including various vintages from years that have had an exceptional harvest. One family tradition that Cognac Chateau Montifaud is proud to follow, is that of when a new baby boy is born to the head of the cognac house, that part of the cognac created from that year’s harvest is set to one side. This is kept for a varying number of years, but may only be sold by future generations.
