Description

Chateau de Beaulon XO Collection Cognac

The Chateau de Beaulon XO Collection Cognac has been produced exclusively from the Chateau de Beaulon 15th century vineyards, situated in the heart of the Saintonge region deep within Cognac. Laid across the Fins Bois cru, this vineyard contains smaller patches of chalk that are less porous than that which is found in other crus, producing eaux-de-vie that are full-bodied, supple and fruity. The eaux-de-vie chosen for this release have been aged for over 25 years in French oak, well beyond the minimum required for an XO Cognac.

Chateau de Beaulon dates back to the 15th Century, when the family De Vinsons built it under the reign of Louis XI. It was purchased by the Beaulon family about 30 years later and passed down through the generations. In the 17th century, the Chateau was passed over to the Bishops of Bordeaux, who took to tending the vineyards and realized the full potential of the area for making quality wines and eaux-de-vie.

Some 300 years later, Christian Thomas became the owner of the Chateau and its vineyards in 1965, and in 1987 it was declared a historical monument. While the world has changed a lot over the years, this house sticks to tradition, only making eaux-de-vie from grapes harvested on-site. The grapes used include Colombard, Folle Blanche and Montils varieties, often abandoned by other growers due to their low yields, and the vineyards are strictly organic, both for the sake of the environment and (of course) for the taste.

Cognac Chateau de Beaulon remains a family-run business under the watchful eye of Christian Thomas, and all aspects of production remain faithful to the traditions of the 17th century. We hope it will stay that way for years to come.

Presentation of the Bottle

Reminiscent of a vintage cologne or perfume, the heavy decanter features square edges, a heavy base and an oversized golden stopper. The branding has been done in gold lettering straight on the glass, perfectly matching the stunning presentation box. This would make a wonderful gift for anyone who enjoys the finer things in life.

How to Enjoy Chateau de Beaulon XO Collection Cognac

Enjoy it neat, perhaps warmed in your hand on a cold winter’s night - or, on a warmer day, why not drop in some ice for a subtly different tasting experience. We recommend trying it after dinner, served with a hot espresso or rich chocolate-based desserts.

About Château de Beaulon Cognac

The beautiful façade and setting of the Chateau de Beaulon Cognac estate is a fitting setting for producing fine cognac. The chateau itself dates back to the year 1480, with it entering into the hands of the Beaulon family in 1510. The family name remains the same to this day, although it is now run by the very capable Christian Thomas. Chateau de Beaulon Cognac has always been, and continues to be, created purely from the fruits of a single vineyard, and is recognized around the world as being a highly desirable, artisan produced cognac.
