Description

Brillet Extra Old XO Cognac

Rated 5 stars by the Spirit Journal, Brillet Extra Old XO Cognac is a beautifully mature Cognac of pure excellence. Matured for a full generation in small oak casks, this elegant and distinguished Cognac is 100% Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru terroir of the Cognac region.

Soft and biscuity with a nutty character - a fine bouquet prevails with dominant notes of vanilla and rancio. A delicate and almost ethereal palate, boasts persistent length and a very clean finish.

Cognac House Brillet is one of the oldest manufacturers in the Cognac region, dating back to 1656. Brillet is known for its unique production technology and exceptional quality Cognac, Pineau and Liquor Belle de Brillet products. The house matures it's Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie between 10 and 100 years in oak barrels - producing only single-cru Cognacs and guaranteeing their uniqueness and quality.

Presentation of the bottle

Housed in a classic decanter, Brillet Extra Old XO Cognac is dressed with sophisticated black finishing touches including a ribbon around the neck of the bottle. The quintessential labelwork is imprinted with a swirly font to match, embodying the rich history of the product and the brand itself which remains steeped in tradition.

How to enjoy

To experience such a fine and well-aged Cognac in all its potential, we recommend serving Extra Old XO neat at room temperature. Try adding a few ice cubes to the glass if you’re seeking a more refreshing serving - this will elongate the tasting slightly too. Sit back, relax and make a toast - to great Cognac. Cheers!

Awards and Recommendations
  • Rated 5 Stars - F. Paul Pacult, Spirit Journal

"The best hundred bucks you'll spend. A 20-year old Cognac that's in perfect harmony and at the peak of its evolution. The most apt descriptor, by a country mile: luscious."

  • Classic (96-100) / Highest Recommendation - Best Buy - Wine Enthusiast

"The opening whiff offers aromas of toasted almonds and apple butter...middle stage adds delicate aromas of old oak ...and on the last nosing; two decades of maturation in small oak barrels. On the palate the multi-layered flavors glide along in perfect harmony. The finish is long, oaky sweet, and a bit caramel-like."

About Brillet J R Cognac

Proud of its family tradition, Brillet Cognac insists that the history is entirely linked to that of cognac. As early on as 1656, Guy Brillet installed his first alembic (the classic still) at his property in the Grande Champagne. This was the introduction of the double distillation process that creates cognac to this day. The Brillets live off their philosophy that things made with care are more valuable, sticking to traditional techniques of production and packaging. Their motto is not to impress through high maintenance or expensive containers, but rather through a humble and high quality aesthetic: a real family business!
