Description
Braastad Cognac XO Fine Champagne - Refined and complex eaux-de-vie
A fantastic Fine Champagne blend (at least 50% from Grande Champagne), demonstrating the most superior qualities of both the Grande and Petite Champagne region, the Braastard XO Fine Champagne is a complex Cognac cultivated from the two premier crus.
A wonderfully spicy XO with astounding aromas of fresh fruit, the Cognac has been aged between 15 to 20 years, resulting in a sensory explosion with a luxuriously lengthy finish.
According to the master blenders at Braastad, this Cognac delivers a developed nose of leather and truffles. On the palate, notes of violet and vanilla are dominant, two key flavors that often are present in a Fine Champagne blend. These floral aromas are balanced by harmonies of hazelnut, creating a unique and pleasant drinking experience where sweet meets spicy and floral meets earthy.
Braastad XO Awards
This exquisite Extra Old Cognac from the masters at Braastad has taken home several awards at both the IWSC and the International Spirits Challenge, a true testament to its complex and vibrant flavors - appreciated by those professional and domestic Cognac connoisseurs alike.
How to Enjoy
This stand-alone Cognac is ideally drunk neat, preferably in a traditional tulip glass or snifter. It also makes the perfect accompaniment to a post-dinner cheese course.
Presentation of the Bottle
A square-based and sturdy bottle, atypical of your more traditional Fine Champagne Cognacs, the subtleties of the design come from the elegant images of the estate perfectly placed on the bottle’s label, a symbol of tradition and savoir-faire.

An Absolute Must!
The Cognac is a blend of eaux-de-vie from Fine Champagne. The bottle is square with a solid foundation. The bottle I have is 1L in size and purchased at an excellent price. Very traditional and classic design. The cognac is dark caramel in color. The initial aroma was very fruity with notes of floral....
Sweet woody spices
This is my first Cognac review and it is quite fitting that it would be the Braastad XO. It was probably the bottle responsible for me developing this interest a couple of years ago. As for the taste it has a bit of sweetness in the form of honey. There is also wood, spices and some violet. It...
Great Apple Fresh X.O. Cognac or The Morning Sun In Your Wineglass.
Braastad X.O. has an initial honey smell right after opening the bottle. Fruit bouquet mix of apple and cherry aromas. No smell of alcohol or ethanol spirit at all. Which is a good sign of the quality X.O. cognac. Stable aroma of fresh apples after letting sit it in the cognac glass for a few minutes....
Competent cognac, at a bargain price.
Braastad XO is a competent cognac, at a bargain price. Nose: rich aromas of rancio. Very strong aromas of nuts. The box mentions hazelnut, but I got roasted caramel glazed walnuts. Earthy umami mushroom and truffles. Coffee notes develop with time. I like the nose. Palate: smooth. The rancio...
Refinement
Elegant Cognac for the price. Deep caramel amber colour. Notes of truffles with hints of leather. To the palate I found a lovely balance of hazelnut and vanilla with a touch of violet permeating throughout. Well developed ranco to finish. I found, personally , the longer the bottle sat the better...
Wood, Spice, and Everything Nice!
For an XO of this quality for under $100 it really can't be beat. Braastad shows that they can pack as strong a punch as the Big 4 at a fraction of the cost. Lots of nice spices and woody notes and a clear rancio is starting to develop. The finish is medium long and definitely makes you want to go...
About Braastad Cognac
In the heart of Grande Champagne in the village of Jarnac lies the impressive Chateau de Triac. The chateau is the home of Cognac Tiffon, to which the Cognac brand Braastad belongs.
Rubbing shoulders with other famous Cognac houses such as Bisquit or Courvoisier, the brand Braastad was created when a Norwegian named Sverre Braastad married into the Tiffon family.
Known for their devotion to the traditional Cognac producing methods, today the whole process is still carried out at the family premises, and Cognac Braastad’s products are renowned worldwide.
