Description

From the Castle to the Chalet: Braastad’s Limited Edition Blend

One of the most beloved houses in Cognac has joined forces with one of the world’s best ski jumps to arrive at an unexpected but utterly satisfying cognac blend: Braastad XO Superior Vingen Cognac. Vingen is the biggest ski jump in the world, an unmissable destination in Norway for thrill-seeking skiers. To match the courage and technicality required of the sportspeople who face such endeavors, Braastad has created a cognac that reflects the spirit of the site.

Among the few family-run cognac houses still in existence, Braastad is made up of several of founder Sverre’s grandsons and relatives, alongside a loyal team of employees who have worked for the house for over 25 years. Master Blender Richard Braastad was at the helm of this limited-edition blend, selecting the best of very old cognacs from the region. This explains its XO age category - each growth included in this captivating concoction has been aged for at least a decade.

The resulting blend of XO Superior Vingen Cognac Braastad is one of satisfying complexity. With richness and power alongside harmony and balance, it is a versatile eau-de-vie primed to delight the tastes of many. On the nose, floral aromas of jasmine delight, and dried fruit and vanilla join the family to round out a beautiful bouquet. On the palate, one is revisited by floral notes, and dried fruits also return with vanilla to achieve elegant, soft complexity and refreshing balance.

Awards and Accolades

This XO Superior Cognac first entered the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London in 2007, where Braastad was thrilled to take home the silver medal, beginning a decorated reputation not dissimilar to the athletes in whose image the product was inspired.

Presentation of the Bottle

XO Superior Vingen Cognac Braastad is deep brown in color with luxurious golden highlights. Its bottle includes an image of a skier, a homage to the partnership and an additional sensory delight for consumers to enjoy. Its limited-edition nature is apparent through its uniqueness and specificity. Ultimately, this is a special collaboration to indulge in for both cognac and ski lovers alike, and of course, the ideal match for those who love both!

About Braastad Cognac

In the heart of Grande Champagne in the village of Jarnac lies the impressive Chateau de Triac. The chateau is the home of Cognac Tiffon, to which the Cognac brand Braastad belongs.

Rubbing shoulders with other famous Cognac houses such as Bisquit or Courvoisier, the brand Braastad was created when a Norwegian named Sverre Braastad married into the Tiffon family.

Known for their devotion to the traditional Cognac producing methods, today the whole process is still carried out at the family premises, and Cognac Braastad’s products are renowned worldwide.
