Description
A. de Vacqueur Sélection Cru XO Fins Bois Cognac
Issued under the “Sélection Cru” label, this XO is drawn solely from Fins Bois eaux-de-vie distilled at the Distillerie de Malémont and left to mature for 33 years in fine-grain Tronçais oak. Bottled non-chill-filtered at 43 % vol, it shows the round structure typical of the cru while time in cask adds complex, savoury depth.
Presentation of the bottle
The bottle is broad-shouldered with a gentle taper toward the waist, finished by a clear glass neck topped with a natural cork and an embossed paper seal. A matte-black capsule and a gilded eagle logo contrast with the white front label, which lists cru, cask reference (FB01-30) and bottling date handwritten in blue ink. The presentation box echoes the black-and-gold theme and carries a silver panel marked “Sélection Cru”, mirroring the band on the bottle seen in the supplied image.
How to drink
Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass; allow two to three minutes for the musky and nutty aromas to unfurl. A single drop of water softens the spice without muting the dried-fruit notes. Excellent alongside roasted almonds, aged Comté or a mild, woody cigar.
