Tasting review

Eye: Deep bronze with mahogany and golden flashes

Nose: Dried fruits, spices, hazelnut, and orange groves. Delight in the aromas of cellars and oak wood.

Palate: Silky, and beautifully balanced, with ever evolving tones of dried fruits, white flowers, and hazelnut cream that give way to tones of dark berries. Long finish, with notes of toffee, leather, and spiced vanilla.

Description

A de Fussigny XO Cognac

The A de Fussigny XO Cognac is a Fine Champagne blend, meaning that it contains a minimum of 50% Grande Champagne eau-de-vie, with the rest coming from Petite Champagne. It’s a well-deserving multi-award winner, with a taste as contemporary and delicious as the bottle in which it’s presented. This is a wonderful choice to add to any liquor collection. The blend, along with the aging process being carried out in the humid cellars of A de Fussigny’s Charente River location, has led to an aromatic and flavorsome Cognac that’s as contemporary as it is a taste experience.

Being of an Extra Old Quality, this delicious Fine Champagne Cognac is the perfect complement to caramel or chocolate based desserts, and also pairs well with a strong cigar.

More about the house of A de Fussigny Cognac

Uniquely located on the banks of the Charente River, in the very center of the town of Cognac, this small, craft house might seem young (it came into being in 1987), but is located in a distillery with a history that dates back to the early 19th century. It was during this time that Cognac was still only sold in barrels. But thanks to the wonderful location on the river, the large wooden doors of the house opened out onto the miraculous transport system that was offered by the innocuous waters of this mighty waterway.

In addition, the location of the houses cellars, so close to this aqua playground, meant that the barrels where the eau-de-vie was aged took full advantage of the microclimate on offer. This led to the creation of a wonderful, and unique, taste profile. Discover more about the delights of A de Fussigny Cognac in our blog article, Where Innovation Meets Tradition.

How to best enjoy A de Fussigny XO Cognac

This delicious XO is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or with a dash of water to further open up its complex taste profile. Discover subtle fruity, floral, and oaky tones. Pour into a tulip glass or brandy balloon, and allow the nose to open out at room temperature over 8-10 minutes. If you’re truly adventurous, and enjoy your Cognac as an addition to your favorite cocktail, then it’s more than bold enough to sip this way. It also lends itself as the perfect partner to a strong cigar.

We have to say, when it comes to contemporary presentation, then the A de Fussigny XO is second to none. Encased in a bottle that would be as at home on a dressing table as atop your drinks cabinet, it’s definitely a Cognac to be discussed (and enjoyed) at length. It’s certainly the ideal Cognac to give as a gift for anyone who enjoys the finer things in life. The ground-breaking packaging is the perfect presentation for the contemporary liquor it gently cradles within.

Solid XO

Got a sample from a friend to try, very good cognac.
Full bodied, lot of nuts and orange notes.
Very long finish, can still taste it on my tongue a good 4-5 minutes after finishing it.
Cognac aficionados will enjoy this one as a digestif or with a cigar.

Q&A

George 2013-09-18

In 2003, I flew through de Gaulle airport enroute from Iraq on emergency leave. On this particular day, I wondered through the duty free shop and spotted the A. de Fussigny XO Fine Champagne Cognac with the cigar tube tester. What I can truly say is that this was the BEST cognac I've ever had. In fact, I was so impressed with this Cognac that I decided to save my bottle until I retired from the military. As of next month, I'll enjoying this fine bottle of Cognac. This will truly be a great day as I celebrate a milestone in my life with something as fine and tasty as the A. de Fussigny XO Fine Champagne Cognac...great job, gentlemen!
