Eye: Deep amber with mahogany reflections.

Nose: Fruity like a retro cocktail - garnished with an orange slice and glacé cherries. Florals (lilac) and woody notes drift in, providing a mature edge.

Palate: Rich and dark, showing an abundance of chocolate. Hot cocoa boiled over a cedarwood fire, dusted with cinnamon, orange zest and saffron.

Description

1719 XO Collection Privee N°88 Cognac

The 1719 XO Collection Privee N°88 Cognac contains the finest eaux-de-vie produced exclusively from Ugni Blanc grapes grown in the producer’s family vineyard in the heart of the Grande Champagne. The name of the Cognac alludes to its vintage; it is the result of a single harvest in the summer of 1988, a stunning snapshot in time of the Premier Cru. After distillation in a special copper alembic still, it has been carefully aged in Tronçais oak barrels for more than 25 years, revealing a wonderful richness and softness.

The name of 1719 Cognac has been taken from the very building that is the heart of the family estate. Founded by Pierre Phillipe Joubert, the family production of fine wines and spirits has continued to be adhered to for over four centuries. Back then, and still true today, 1719 Cognac is all about creating exceptional eaux-de-vie that showcase the sumptuous aromas which have made the Premier Cru synonymous with quality.

Today, the ethos of the house remains as steeped in tradition as it always has. Cellar Master Jean Phillipe Boulay takes full advantage of the exceptional selection of very old Cognacs that are contained within the cellars of 1719 Cognac; every Cognac produced is a Grande Champagne delight, with no blending of those with different ages or from different estates.

Regardless of when you choose to drink it, this is an outstanding Cognac to celebrate special moments. We suggest sipping it slowly from a tulip glass, potentially adding a few drops of water to open up the palate.
