The Vallein Tercinier Small Batch VT 46 is not only a Cognac to sit back and savor, but it's one with an unusual taste profile and back story too. Firstly, it's a combination of only two eaux-de-vie. The first is from the new 'buzz' terroir – Fins Bois. With it's veins of high quality chalk and soils that impart a unique floral influence, this is a growth area that continues to grow in popularity. This portion of the blend has been 25 years in the making, languishing in oak barrels until just the right moment to be bottled. The second delight is from the lesser used, Bons Bois terroir. Aged for 15 years, it brings its own qualities to the blend, and together these two wines have created a truly delicious Cognac.
VT 46 is a real pure masterpiece. Boasting no additives, and non-chill filtered, this is Cognac created in a completely traditional manner. The end result is a flavor that could almost be described as 'tropical', yet with a slight edge and a little on the oaky side.

Signature VT house style (which I am very fond of) and great younger blend that has everything you want in balance. Surprising complexity for this age and price. A great choice for an everyday cognac. Very fruity, nice lift with the 46$ abv.
Candied fruit, lemon, pineapple and mango on the nose. Super sweet, lots of fruity flavours. Very very sweet. Quite sugary on the finish, before it develops significant warmth. Dusty oak at the end. Slightly let down by the heat at the end, but otherwise a sweet bomb.
This is a blend of two distillates, a 25 year old Fins Bois and a 15 year old Bons Bois. It is bottled at 46%. It is rich on the nose, and powerful in the mouth. Bright amber with yellow and gold highlights, another “honest” shade. Fruit with obvious alcohol. Fiery fruit notes, definitely benefits from having chocolate along side. Milder finish.
A superb fruit bomb on the nose with ripe peaches, exotic fruits and also fine floral notes and honey. On the palate the same exotic fruits, peaches, oranges and limes to add an interesting liveliness. The finish is medium to long on juicy fruits, limes and honey - really fine!
 | Vallein Tercinier is a family cognac house at the Domaine des Forges in Chermignac, about 35 kilometres south of Cognac. The date on the label is 1850, when Georges Vallein developed the vineyard. Catherine Roudier-Tercinier built the modern name through the 1990s and 2000s. Today the house is run by the sixth generation, four brothers: Matthieu and Martial on the vineyard, Guillaume and Paul on the cognac. Part of the stock rests in the Petit Paradis, a clay-floored cellar that pushes humidity through the barrel pores and gives the older bottlings the undergrowth and old-leather character collectors look for.
