Description

Out of the Ashes: St Rob VSOP Cognac

The youngest expression from this estate, St Rob VSOP Cognac is a blend featuring primarily eaux-de-vie from the Fins Bois and Borderies areas. It has been matured for over four years in oak casks selected especially for their rich, woody aromas. Combining the full-bodied, supple, grapevine notes of the Fins Bois with the unique floral characteristics of Borderies eaux-de-vie, this is a VSOP with great personality that is sure to become a modern classic.

After the Revolution in 1789, the privileges of the nobility and the clergy were abolished. One of the many estates affected by this was the Saint Robert Convent. Once upon a time it was an attractive, prosperous place but over the centuries it fell into ruin, a shadow of its former self. Over two centuries later, René-Luc Chabasse passes by the hamlet known as Saint Robert and immediately falls for the charm of this property with its 60 hectares connecting the borders of two Cognac appellations, the Fins Bois and Borderies. Despite their poor condition, the historic buildings on the estate René-Luc embarked on a huge project to breathe life back into Saint Robert. Major refurbishment and decoration work was undertaken and the ruined former abbey is now home to St Rob Cognac, represented by a phoenix on every bottle - a symbol of resurrection.

Presentation of the Bottle

The unusual bottle features a bold profile, embossed with the emblem of the house - a phoenix - perfectly framed by the red foil and label. A matching presentation box completes the package.

How to Enjoy St Rob VSOP Cognac

Fresh, fruity, and supple, this is a Cognac that can be enjoyed neat, over ice, or combined with a mixer to create a refreshing long drink on a hot day - try it with ginger ale or tonic.

About St Rob Cognac

A cognac house that saw a 're-birth' thanks to the passion of one René-Luc Chabasse, the brand of St Rob is well represented by it's trademark phoenix - a logo that symbolises the re-birth of an estate that fell due to the French Revolution and the disposession of the rights of the nobility and clergy.
