Description
Rémy Martin VSOP Lunar Chinese New Year of the Horse 2026 Cognac
The Rémy Martin VSOP Lunar Chinese New Year of the Horse 2026 Cognac is a limited edition expression released to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse. This edition combines the classic Rémy Martin VSOP profile with festive design elements created in collaboration with Chinese artist Xue Song, resulting in a collectible bottle and box that stand out visually. As a Fine Champagne Cognac sourced from both Petite and Grande Champagne regions, it reflects Rémy Martin’s signature style — balanced, elegant and aromatic with depth of flavour.
This VSOP is presented at 40% ABV and exhibits a refined structure with multiple layers of aroma and taste that develop from the first swirl in the glass. On the eye, the spirit shows a warm ochre colour that takes on a bright golden sheen when poured, signalling both maturity and vibrancy. On the nose, vanilla and dried apricot combine with the sweetness of candied pear, inviting deeper exploration. A subtle note of liquorice adds character without overpowering the core fruit aromas. The palate reveals a nuanced interplay of dried fruit and gentle spice, carried by a silky texture that feels smooth and approachable. The finish is long and structured, echoing the primary fruit flavours and leaving a memorable impression.
The limited edition packaging elevates the overall presentation. The bottle itself has a frosted surface that appears deep and rich against the colourful label, creating a dramatic contrast. The label features a striking red background with motifs drawn from Xue Song’s artwork, including stylised horses and cloud forms that evoke movement and festive spirit. Gold text and accents on the label reflect traditional celebratory colours, adding a sense of ceremony to the Cognac. The accompanying gift box expands on the design with embossed elements and a vivid red base tone, punctuated by turquoise and gold, making this edition especially fitting for gifting or display during Lunar New Year festivities.
Presentation of the bottle
The bottle has a matte black or frosted dark finish that gives it a contemporary presence and sets it apart from standard clear glass VSOP bottles. The neck is capped in black with a discreet gold line detail that frames the Rémy Martin signature. The main label sits low on the bottle and is richly coloured with red as the dominant shade, interspersed with gold and lighter accents that form abstract landscape and horse motifs. The centaur emblem appears in gold on the shoulder of the bottle, linking it to the house identity. The gift box mirrors the label’s vibrant palette, with textured patterns, dynamic shapes and layered tones that are visually engaging and culturally evocative. Overall, the presentation captures both festivity and refinement, balancing bold design with the classic shape of a VSOP bottle.
How to drink
Rémy Martin VSOP Lunar Chinese New Year of the Horse 2026 Cognac is best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass to allow the full aromatic profile to express itself. Hold the glass at room temperature and take time to appreciate the evolving aromas before tasting. The balanced structure and layered aromas also make this VSOP a great pairing with dishes that feature dried fruits, nuts or light spices. For a slightly cooler presentation, a single large ice cube can be added; this will slightly soften the intensity while preserving the core flavours.
