Eye: Gorgeously glowing amber gold.

Nose: A strong, floral nose, with notes of lime and pears.

Palate: The bouquet alternates between mild and floral nuances. Pears, vanilla, lime leaves and oak wood create a wonderful and extremely individual character, which reaches its climax with spices and rough, earthy tobacco.

Description

Baron Otard Cognac VSOP 0.7L - A Cognac Fit For A Baron

Before tasting this Baron Otard VSOP Cognac, it will be clear that you have invested in an extraordinary bottle indeed. The elegant, teardrop-shaped bottle oozes sumptuous elegance.

Aged far beyond the standard requirements for a Very Superior Old Pale, this Cognac has spent an average of 8-10 years in the lower vault of the grandiose Château de Cognac, biding its time in French Limousin oak casks. The 11th-century chateau provides the perfect cool and dry conditions for aging Cognac.

Thanks to the long maturation process, the VSOP develops a full-bodied and elegant character with heady notes of vanilla, subtle oak and tobacco.

Made solely with grapes grown in the prestigious Fine Champagne duo, and at least 50% from the Grande Champagne growth area, it is an extra special bottle to add to your collection.

The castle itself holds the secrets to years of Cognac production deep within its cellars, after being established by Baron Jean-Baptiste Otard in 1795 who went on to become mayor of the region just nine years later.

It is the only royal chateau in the Cognac region and narrowly avoided being destroyed during the French Revolution.

Baron Otard are masters of Cognac production, particularly their Otard distillery, with its fascinating history that dates back to the Middle Ages.

Smooth, weekend cognac.

Oddly, this cognac isn't that common in the UK markets so pitching up in Canada it was a delight to see it in most LCBO; definitely underpriced for the quality it is a fine weekend, post-dinner cognac for those who like Courvoisier or Godet. The tobacco finish lends itself to that warming memory on a cold Canadian winter.

Great Taste

This is one of my favorite Cognac. I discovered this from a friend and loved it ever since. I wish I could get it regularly in the states.

About Otard Cognac

With an ancient tradition tracing back to the Middle Ages, and to the great Norwegian Viking Ottar, this Cognac dynasty has an incredibly unique history. Around the same period, the iconic Chateau de Cognac was built on the banks of the Charente, and was largely associated with the French monarchy. Eventually, the two histories would merge with the arrival of the Cognac Maison Otard, founded in 1795. Today, the Chateau is the home of Baron Otard Cognac, who are amongst the most recognized in quality. The elegant teardrop bottles are a beautiful symbol for the simultaneously traditional and modern values of Cognac Otard.
