Description
An Organic VSOP Cognac from the Grande Champagne cru
A unique and artisanal Cognac created in harmony with the natural elements from the rolling fields of the Grande Champagne. The Méry Melrose Organic VSOP Cognac is an award winning fine spirit created with exceptional savoir-faire, from a Cognac house that use certified organic Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Montils grape varieties. Striving to produce organically with all of their spirits, their VSOP Cognac is a feel good blend of eaux-de-vie with generous flavor and aroma. It has spent 4 and a half years sleeping in French oak casks; hence its VSOP age denomination.
This Cognac house pride themselves on crafting the Méry Melrose Very Superior Old Pale Cognac solely from eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne; a sure indication of their dedication to quality. This cru is known as the ‘Premier Cru’, and celebrated for its ability to produce very fine Cognacs. Its soil is chalky, with a limestone subsoil that makes for excellent drainage and optimal exposure to the sun.
The presentation is something never before seen; a fitting nod to the prehistoric wall paintings in French caves with a wonderful label and geometric decanter.

How to serve an organic VSOP by Méry Melrose
This Cognac should be enjoyed neat, in a cocktail or over ice. It goes very well with pigeon, duck or foie gras as a food pairing.
The presentation of Méry Melrose Cognacs have a unique and fitting story. The distinctive design is influenced by prehistoric art found in ancient caves in southwestern France. These paintings date back an incredible 18,000 years, and is a clear nod towards a time when animals and man lived side by side in harmony. This Cognac house symbolize their ancestors and love for the terroir.
The Méry Melrose story
Described as both ‘farmer and artist’, Master Blender Francois and Janis Méry created the Cognac brand after being inspired by their love for each other; the rose represents love for their family and craft. They are organic growers, and viticulturists. Francois is a fourth generation Cognac distiller, and has both tradition and his modern innovation to thank. As a young man, he traveled to Australia to work for an independent biodynamic wine producer, and felt inspired to bring his ideas back to France.
The process takes place at the maison from start to finish; from harvesting the organic grapes, to distilling and blending. The ageing process takes place in their family cellars; the Cognac ageing in both old and new Limousin oak barrels of 400 liter capacity.
