Nose: We first notice gourmet aromas such as banana and caramelised pears. Then a subtle sweetness appears, and notes of vanilla & coconut mixed with spicy and menthol are revealed.

Palate: It is soft, round and gourmand. We taste deep and fresh notes of ginger and white candied fruits such as plums.

Description

Introducing Martell Blue Swift Limited Edition by Quavo Cognac: The world’s first VSOP Cognac to be finished in bourbon casks.

To celebrate the 2020 festive season, Maison Martell have partnered up with three international artists, who have each re-created one of Martell’s most iconic products as part of a limited edition Christmas collection.

As a long-standing ambassador of Maison Martell, American rapper Quavo now makes his mark on the world of Cognac through his contemporary creative vision of the Limited edition Martell Blue Swift. In the same way that Martell Blue Swift broke boundaries, Quavo extends his influence far beyond the realms of hip-hop. Inspired by a trip to Cognac, his design draws on elements of fashion and hip-hop culture. In doing so, his design represents the similar daring cultural fusion that Martell Blue Swift embodies; as the world’s first spirit made from VSOP Cognac and then finished in Kentucky bourbon casks.

Martell is one of the oldest great Cognac houses and dates back to 1715. Today the brand is very much at the forefront of Cognac production and has earnt itself an outstanding international reputation. Martell’s signature distillation process is free of impurities and allows the eaux-de-vie to absorb its rich aromatic tones from the bourbon cask. This method grants Martell Blue Swift the brand's hallmark style, and characterizes it with delicate notes of candied fruit and plum, which are complemented by subtle hints of vanilla and toasted oak from bourbon casks. It is an exceptionally smooth Cognac, with a rounded taste and unique character. Martell Blue Swift is a delightfully fruity alternative to sipping a bourbon or whiskey amongst friends.

Presentation of the bottle: By Quavo

Showcasing the Cognac's stunning coppery colour with golden glints, Martell Blue Swift Limited Edition by Quavo remains humble to the original design whilst offering a modern twist. The both the original and limited edition designs include reference to the Swift; a bird with the rare ability to fly for days without stopping. For the house of Martell, the Swift bird is an iconic symbol of strength, as it is bound by nothing, through its impressive ability to traverse oceans and continents. While remaining true to the original design, Quavo takes inspiration from his musical roots, as his design features hand drawn illustrations that hone in on hip-hop and the world of luxury. Drawings of diamonds, jewellery, stars, and dollar bills cover the gift box and labelwork; inflicting an added touch of splendour, to an already prestigious product. Arriving with two elegant glasses, it goes without saying that Blue Swift should be enjoyed amongst good company.

How to enjoy

Martell Blue Swift is best enjoyed on its own, over ice, lengthened with a mixer or as a cocktail. Maison Martell recommends using Blue Swift as the base of a “Martell Sazerac” cocktail. A drink to be enjoyed in good company, Sazerac was created in New Orleans and still stands as the city’s official cocktail: a taste of real America.

Ingredients:

  • 60ml Blue Swift
  • 5ml Sugar syrup
  • 3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
  • 5ml Pernod Absinthe

Method: Mix up Blue Swift with Absinthe, sugar syrup and bitters in a cocktail shaker. Pour over ice for and enjoy as a refreshing evening tipple.

About Martell Cognac

Martell is the oldest of the Big Four Cognac houses. Similar to Rémy Martin, but a few years older still, not long ago did Martell celebrate its 300-year anniversary. The history of Martell & Co dates back to 1715 when Jean Martell founded the company with the wish to produce only the highest quality in Cognac. With the legendary bottles Martell Cordon Bleu, the cuvée Martell Extra L’Or de Jean Martell and the recent Création Grand Extra from 2007, the company strongly implanted itself in the luxury goods market, and are famous for using large amounts of eaux-de-vie from the Borderies terroir. It belongs to Pernod Ricard and has sales of around 15 million liters every year. The most precious eaux-de-vie, some of which date back to 1830, are stored in a secret location in the cellars of Jean Martell - approximately 1.6 million 9-liter cases!
