Description

A Journey of Flavor: Kelt VSOP Tour Du Monde Cognac

Combining VSOP-grade Cognac with much older eaux-de-vie, Kelt VSOP Tour Du Monde Cognac celebrates the aromas and flavors that are created by combining the old with the new. The base of this traditional Cognac is a blend of eaux-de-vie from both Petite and Grande Champagne that has been allowed to age much longer than the legal minimum of four years in Limousin oak casks.

All Kelt Cognac are aged at sea, following a set route around the world. Safely stored on a westward-bound ship, the casks are filled to just under three-quarters full so that the liquid can move and has a large enough surface for the ideal amount of alcohol to evaporate. This voyage takes between 90-110 days and when the casks return, they are rested for around three to five months before being transferred to bottles. The aim is to produce Cognacs similar to those of the past, when many spirits were subjected to epic oceanic journeys. It’s even possible to track the location of current shipments via Kelt’s website.

Kelt use their extensive experience and stock of Limousin oak casks in creative ways to get the maximum effect from the ocean maturation process. For this VSOP they have used barrels of varying ages, between 4 and 12 years old, though the exact composition and details are a closely guarded secret. The producer describes this release as demonstrating a tasting age squarely between Napoleon and XO.

Presentation of the Bottle

Its tall shape makes this a bottle that stands out from the crowd - literally. The natural cork stopper is wrapped in a metal cage, matching the gold details on the label. Accompanied by a deep blue presentation box, this release would make a wonderful gift for any well-travelled Cognac lover.

How to Enjoy Kelt VSOP Tour Du Monde Cognac

This soft, complex expression is best appreciated in a tulip glass, where its aromas can fully develop. Its rich aromas make it the perfect match for desserts, coffee or a cigar.
