Description
Jules Gautret VSOP Cognac: an Effortless Balance of Flavor
The Jules Gautret VSOP Cognac is a mellow, floral expression which has been aged for a minimum of 50 months in Limousin oak casks. Made according to time-honoured Charentais techniques, this is a perfectly balanced Cognac that brings together the best qualities of several crus. Born from the most popular grape variety used for Cognac, the Ugni Blanc, it has developed an exceptional flavor thanks to the micro-climate and the richness of the land of Haute Saintonge.
Jules Gautret was born to a family of winegrowers who had been settled in Jonzac in the Petite Champagne region since around 1780. In 1818, this affluent family purchased the Chateau de Jonzac, establishing them as a tour de force in the region. Jules established his own néogicant company in 1847 and set up cellars as well as a distillery 30 kilometres south of Cognac. The Maison has stayed in the family ever since, and expanded considerably in 2007 with new cellars and a bottling plant to handle the increasing amounts of Cognac they are producing.
