Description

Joseph Guy VSOP Cognac: a Fine Dutchman

The Joseph Guy VSOP Cognac has been produced from a combination of mostly Fins Bois and Bons Bois grapes, alongside a smaller portion from Petite Champagne. It has been matured in French oak for a minimum of four years before being bottled. Perfect for mixed drinks, cocktails, or just to enjoy on its own, this premium Cognac offers a fantastic level of complexity for the price.

Joseph Guy Cognac is a product of a Dutchman, who wanted to create a Cognac brand for his native market that would provide quality at a reasonable price. After extensive research into the market, in 1965 he began collaborating with a Frenchman from the industry, and Cognac Joseph Guy was born. They certainly found the recipe for success: within ten years, Joseph Guy became the number one selling Cognac in Holland. If the price makes one sceptical of the provenance of this Cognac, rest assured its origins are of the highest quality.

Presentation of the Bottle

Elegantly curved, the Joseph Guy VSOP Cognac features a classic shape with a wide base and slim neck, while the black and gold label beautifully complements the amber liquid contained within the bottle

Serving Suggestion

This VSOP Cognac suits any occasion; try it neat or on the rocks as a digestif, or combine it with sparkling water or tonic in a long drink. Alternatively, why not try it in a cocktail? We recommend the Metropolitan:

  • 40ml Joseph Guy VSOP Cognac
  • 20ml Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass, or a tumbler glass with ice. Garnish with a twist of lemon zest and a maraschino cherry.

About Joseph Guy Cognac

Cognac Joseph Guy is the leading cognac in the Netherlands, targeted at a cognac consumer who will want to spend little money for a bottle. This is how the brand was created in the first place: A Dutchman and a cognac producer joined forces to create a, entry level cognac that could be sold at a very reasonable price. In line with the Dutch trading history, Cognac Joseph Guy was made to be sold successfully in the Netherlands, not necessarily internationally. The range is limited from a VS to an XO.
