Description

Tradition and Taste: a VSOP from Claude Thorin

From one of the first estates to be certified HVE (High Environmental Value) comes this stunning expression. The Claude Thorin VSOP Grande Champagne Premier Cru Cognac has been distilled on the lees for optimal flavor, aged for one year in Limousin oak and then transferred into red oak to develop a full symphony of aromas. The result is a VSOP Cognac of exceptional value, showing a round, mellow taste with an abundance of fruit, vanilla and tangs of wood.

Set among 106 hectares of vineyards, the Thorin estate has expanded considerably since it was taken over by second-generation distiller Claude from his father, André Thorin. Whether it’s wine, Pineau de Charente or Cognac, Claude focuses on producing everything on-site -- from field to bottle. Placed in the heart of the Grande Champagne growing region, Maison Thorin produces premier cru Cognac from Ugni Blanc as well as Folle Blanche grapes, which had almost disappeared from France after the phylloxera epidemic in the 1880s. This company may still be young, but by taking inspiration from centuries of knowledge, they carry on the traditions of Cognac production with as much passion as the oldest houses in Grande Champagne.

Presentation of the Bottle

The classic, tall bottle is presented with a neat label, mahogany-colored foil and an embossed glass emblem on the front.

How to Enjoy Claude Thorin VSOP Grande Champagne Premier Cru de Cognac

This fantastically complex VSOP is great before dinner as well as after. Serve neat in tulip glasses at room temperature as a digestif, or over ice as an aperitif.
