Description
Peyrat VS Petite Champagne Cognac
Peyrat VS Petite Champagne Cognac is produced by Cognac Peyrat in the Petite Champagne cru, one of the most respected areas of the Cognac appellation in France. This expression is crafted from Ugni Blanc grapes and represents a young and vibrant style of Cognac, aged for a short period in oak barrels, including a few months in new casks. Bottled at a classic strength, it offers a fresh and approachable profile.
This VS Cognac reflects the characteristics of its origin, where chalky clay-limestone soils contribute to the finesse and structure of the eaux-de-vie. The relatively short aging period allows the natural fruit character to remain at the forefront, while the time spent in oak adds subtle complexity. The result is a Cognac that is direct, expressive, and versatile.
On the nose, Peyrat VS opens with fresh and fruity aromas. Notes of white flowers and orchard fruits such as pear and apple are immediately noticeable. These are followed by light hints of vanilla and almond, coming from the interaction with oak during maturation. The aromatic profile remains clean and well-defined, without excessive heaviness.
The palate begins with a lively and slightly sharp attack, typical of a young Cognac. This quickly develops into a more rounded texture, where flavors of fresh fruit, mild spices, and a touch of sweetness appear. The influence of the new oak is present but controlled, adding structure without overpowering the spirit. The balance between freshness and softness makes it easy to approach.
The finish is clean and moderately persistent, leaving behind notes of fruit and light vanilla. It does not aim for intensity or depth, but rather for clarity and drinkability, which aligns with the style expected from a VS Cognac.
Presentation of the bottle
The updated visual presents Peyrat VS Petite Champagne Cognac in a more classic and polished format, together with its presentation box. The bottle has a broad, rounded shape with soft shoulders and a short neck, topped with a natural-style cork stopper that gives it a traditional look. The glass is clear and shows the warm amber color of the Cognac clearly. The front label uses a cream background with clean black lettering and gold geometric accents. “PEYRAT COGNAC” appears prominently at the top, followed by “Petite Champagne” and “VS” in a centered, balanced layout. At the bottom, the house monogram and “Est. 1920” add structure without making the design feel busy.
The gift box follows the same visual identity as the bottle. It uses a cream and gold color scheme with a textured finish that gives it a refined appearance. The large angular gold panel adds depth to the design, while the Peyrat name, Cognac mention, and Petite Champagne reference are clearly visible on the front. The result is a coherent presentation that feels modern but still rooted in the traditional image of Cognac. Together, the bottle and box create a neat and elegant set that works well for both gifting and display.
How to drink
Peyrat VS Petite Champagne Cognac is versatile and can be enjoyed in several ways. It can be served neat to appreciate its freshness and aromatic profile. It also works well on ice, which softens the structure and enhances its fruit notes. Due to its lively character, it is particularly suitable for cocktails, where it can bring balance and depth without dominating other ingredients. Classic serves such as a Cognac tonic or simple mixed drinks highlight its accessibility.
