Description
The Moisans Cognac VS: To be enjoyed in long drinks and neat
An elegant, smooth and well balanced Very Special Cognac, the Cognac Moisans VS is a youthful delight. Aged for at least 2 years in French oak barrels, it has been distilled following ancestral methods passed down through generations of Cognac makers at the famous Moisans Distillery. This fruity and fresh VS comes from the 60-hectare domain with vines in the Fins Bois cru, which is particularly known for producing supple Cognacs.
The property is home to 12 2,500-liter Charentais stills, which are distilling the eaux-de-vie from the end of summer to March the following year. The Moisans Distillery is home to a vast reserve of Cognac to make sure that quality is always as high as possible, and that their Cognacs are aged to perfection.
Les Moisans, a hamlet in the Cognac region, is made from the limestone from the surrounding soil. This limestone provides the best soil for growing vines, as the vines need to plunge deep in order to grow. When Roland Bru acquired the property in the 1960s, he began a tradition of Cognac making that would be carried on for generations.
Located near the Charente River, it is in a truly iconic spot. The family has accumulated a unique savoir-faire acquiring the property and now understand the nature of the soil in which their vines are grown.
How to serve
It can be enjoyed as a long drink, or neat in a tulip glass.
Presentation
The decanter is a typical tasting bottle shape, with a simple cream label and a small illustration of the Moisans estate. It also comes with a wonderful presentation sleeve with a navy blue stripe.
About Cognac Moisans
When Roland Bru settled in the Cognac region in 1960, he purchased an iconic property along the banks of the Charente River - a key feature in the history of the Cognac trade. He rebuilt and expanded the Distillerie des Moisans, outfitting it with the equipment that make it an exceptional producer of fine Cognac.
Today Cognac Moisans encompasses 30 hectares of vines in the Fins Bois, with 95% of their vineyard of the Ugni Blanc grape variety.
Having been passed down the Bru Legaret family for three generations, the single estate process - from distilling, ageing, bottling and marketing - all takes place here in this small and historic hamlet.
