Description

Just a Drop of Dutch Courage: Joseph Guy VS Cognac

Aged for at least two and a half years, the Joseph Guy VS Cognac is a young but popular expression that is widely sold all around the Netherlands, where the brand was first conceived of. The eaux-de-vie for this lively blend have been made from a combination of mostly Fins Bois and Bons Bois grapes, alongside a smaller portion from Petite Champagne. Full, fruity and accessible, the final product is a Cognac for all moments. The color is a light gold, with a bouquet showing traces of vanilla and oak from the maturation process in French oak.

Joseph Guy Cognac is a product of a Dutchman, who wanted to create a Cognac brand for his native market that would provide quality at a reasonable price. After extensive research into the market, in 1965 he began collaborating with a Frenchman from the industry, and Cognac Joseph Guy was born. They certainly found the recipe for success: within ten years, Joseph Guy became the number one selling Cognac in Holland. If the price makes one sceptical of the provenance of this Cognac, rest assured its origins are of the highest quality.

Presentation of the Bottle

Elegantly curved, the Joseph Guy VS Cognac features a classic shape with a wide base and slim neck. The gold-toned label and foil perfectly reflect the shimmering amber liquid contained within the bottle.

How to Enjoy Joseph Guy VS Cognac

This lively VS Cognac is great served on its own as well as over ice. The producer also recommends pairing it with ginger ale - or even served as a punch to share, like the Joseph Punch:

  • 4 parts Joseph Guy VS Cognac
  • 2 parts peach liqueur
  • 2 parts lemon juice
  • 1 part sugar syrup
  • 2 parts water

Pour all ingredients into a classic punch bowl or any large bowl filled with ice. Stir and garnish the punch with a mix of citrus fruits, such as lemon, orange and grapefruit. For an extra colorful presentation, try adding cut strawberries or raspberries.

About Joseph Guy Cognac

Cognac Joseph Guy is the leading cognac in the Netherlands, targeted at a cognac consumer who will want to spend little money for a bottle. This is how the brand was created in the first place: A Dutchman and a cognac producer joined forces to create a, entry level cognac that could be sold at a very reasonable price. In line with the Dutch trading history, Cognac Joseph Guy was made to be sold successfully in the Netherlands, not necessarily internationally. The range is limited from a VS to an XO.
