Nose: Fantastic ripe orchard fruits (pear, peach) appear at the fore, laid over a base of supple leather, vanilla and dried figs.

Palate: Mild and rounded, with vanilla carried on from the nose, now joined by hazelnut and almond.

Description

Godet VS Classique Cognac: a Youthful Award Winner

Godet VS Classique is the youngest Cognac in Godet's range, aged for a minimum of three years. A blend of Fins Bois and Bons Bois eaux-de-vie, it is double distilled and matured in French oak casks by the Atlantic coast. This is an exceptionally lively and fruity Cognac, revealing pear and leather notes on the nose - mature beyond its years, Classique shows that age is but a number.

Founded in 1782, Godet Cognac ranges amongst the oldest Cognac houses. The Godet family has been based in the seaside town and former trading hub La Rochelle for 400 years and since the very beginnings of Cognac production, they have played an important role in perfecting this culture. Cognac Godet has been in the hands of the same family for an astonishing 15 generations, who have placed tradition and excellence at the heart of their business. Godet is also one of the few Cognac producers who focus on cultivating and using the Folle Blanche grape variety, the original Cognac grape.

The Godet family's expertise in wine-making results in outstanding wine and Champagne as well as Cognac - an excellent standing for a family-run company. The business is headed by Godet president Jean-Jacques Godet, assisted by his three sons Jean Eduard, Maxime and Cyril.

Presentation of the Bottle

With its classic curves, precious details and modern visual elements, this is a bottle that is sure to stand out in any liquor cabinet. The deep punt and minimalist label keep the design simple but effective, while the presentation box features a bold all-over graphic design with white and copper accents. This bottle would make a fantastic gift for any Cognac enthusiast.

Serving Suggestion

This young blend is perfect to enjoy with a mixer, on the rocks or sipped neat. We particularly love using it in an Orchard Sour:

  • 40ml Godet VS Classique
  • 20ml Godet Pearadise Pear Liqueur
  • 20ml Lemon juice
  • 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters
  • The white of one egg

First shake all ingredients without ice to aerate, then add ice and shake vigorously until sufficiently chilled. Strain into a coupette glass and garnish with a thin pear slice placed on the rim of the glass.

About Godet Cognac

The house of Godet has been run by the family for 14 generations. It is a perfect example of a cognac house that deeply believes in the tradition of this spirit and its origins. At the same time, Godet manages to move with modern times, having recently created a cognac from a grape that is almost extinct in the cognac industry: Folle Blache. This cognac is called "Antarctica Godet" and was inspired by a 2-month sailing trip to the South Pole.
