Description
A VS Cognac by Chatelier Cognac - perfect for cocktails
A fresh, youthful Cognac, the Claude Chatelier VS Cognac is certainly making waves. Arriving in the iconic and rounded Chatelier decanter, this is a great Cognac to have for cocktail experimentation.
Sourcing their grapes from top quality vineyards, the Chatelier VS Cognac is aged in small French oak barrels for around 2 years thanks to its “Very Special” age denomination. The wine is then distilled in small copper pot stills of 25 hectoliters, according to centuries-old savoir-faire. The Cognac sleeps soundly, aging in cool and damp cellars with beaten earth floors that encourage its subtle transformation into sweet nectar.
The Cellar Master’s art of blending honors the passage of time, and the importance of its role in imparting impeccable balance to the Cognac.
The name of the Cognac house is a tribute to the birth of Cognac and its origins. The very beginnings of eaux-de-vie were developed on the west coast of France, and it was the local monks that began the art of distilling.
One of the oldest known Cistercian abbeys was founded on the Île de Ré in 1166, now forming part of the Bons Bois cru of the Cognac region. This island was a unique place for distilling wines, benefiting from the unique maritime climate. The abbey itself was called “L’Abbaye des Chateliers”, and it was with this that Alexander Gabriel created Claude Chatelier Cognac in 1989.
