Description
A Grande Champagne, single-barrel Cognac from 1990
Vallein Tercinier have done it again with one of their vintage, single cask bottles. The Lot 90 Grande Champagne Cognac has been carefully selected by the cellar master; the eau-de-vie of 1990’s harvest is now bottled in 2016 after being aged in oak barrels. As a Grande Champagne vintage should demonstrate, it has a smooth and complex spirit, thanks to the nature of the soil in this prestigious terroir. The Grande Champagne is the most celebrated of crus in the Cognac region, thanks to the unique makeup of the soil. The content of lime is due to the millions of years of fossilization in this maritime region; this gives it a chalkiness that makes for the perfect acidity in Cognac production. The Vintage Cognac means that it has been chosen from one single cask; something which seems to be done with art-like precision at the Cognac house of Vallein Tercinier. Indulge in one of its fine single barrel bottles, and enjoy a fine Grande Champagne vintage.
The spirit of the Vallein Tercinier Cognac house
The house of Vallein Tercinier Cognac is one of family tradition and artisanal craft. Their history goes back over 500 years to 1850. Passed down from one family member to another, they have remained true to tradition, while simultaneously embracing the changes in new technology to make for a fantastic set of Cognacs; including a variety of vintages from single year harvests. Based at the Domaine des Forges, the cellar masters harness a lot of expertise within their terrain.
The presentation of a Vallein Tercinier Cognac is crucial in the Cognac making process. The presentation of the Lot 90 Cognac does not fail to disappoint; arriving in a simple bottle, with a traditional label and a seal on the side of the bottle. It clearly displays the family crest and estate on the bottle, of which 990 were made.
How to enjoy the Lot 90 Vintage
As with a good vintage, enjoy it neat and take in all of its sensory treats.
About Vallein Tercinier Cognac
With over 500 years of history, the artisan house of Vallein Tercinier is one that deserves the attention of all Cognac lovers – from those new to eaux-de-vie to the connoisseur. This brother and sister team bring an expertise to craft Cognac that's just aching to be discovered.
Many of their Cognac's have been awarded top class awards in many industry competitions, and this has meant a growing awareness of their products in some quarters. But, as with the aging process of Cognac, such a small craft brand is often lost amongst the noise razzmatazz of the 'big boys'. And that really is a crime, because as many esteemed connoiseurs are finding out, the offerings of Vallein Tercinier are of superb quality, unique, and once you've discovered them, will become a 'must have' brand to always have in your drinks cabinet.
Catherine and Louis are very proud to have stepped into the shoes of their many ancestors. And as is in keeping with family tradition, the've continued to move the company forward, whilst remaining true to the pure art of Cognac production. They've adapted the facilities to take full advantage of modern technology, and continue to produce some very special Cognacs indeed.
