Eye: Golden mahogany.

Nose: Sweet fruits dominated by candied orange and lemon, with just a hint of cardamom, hazelnut and almond flakes.

Palate: Very round and soft with an abundance of warm winter spices: cinnamon and nutmeg. The orange notes carry on from the nose, slowly fading into nutmeg, butter and a dash of spicy pepper on the finish.

Description

Sweet Delights from the Fins Bois

The Prunier Vintage 1985 Fins Bois Cognac is the result of one year’s harvest in the Fins Bois growing region. A natural cask-strength delight at 54.9%, this Fins Bois Cognac was bottled in June 2012. It has been selected purely based on the quality of the harvest and distillation; while most Cognacs will be a blend of different ages and even regions, these vintages are locked away in humid cellars at Maison Prunier to mature for several years or even decades with no certainty about the result. The long wait has certainly paid off - it's a beautiful and elegant Fins Bois, typical of the chalky soil found in this cru.

Experts in fine vintages, Prunier specialize in buying eaux-de-vie directly from winegrowers and distillers to age in their cellars by the Charente. This ancient Cognac house dates back to 1665 and is still housed in the same medieval castle where it was founded. In the early 20th Century, the Prunier family left no descendants when Alphonse Prunier died. It was his widow who passed the company to her nephew Jean Burnez, allowing the Maison to continue as a family company and maintain their traditions.

Presentation of the Bottle

This exceptional Cognac comes in a traditional-style bottle sealed with wax, adorned with a simple label and presented in a premium wooden box. The bottles used for Prunier vintages have been inspired by a hand-blown bottle used in the 19th Century by the family of Prunier’s manager Claude Burnez. The original bottle contained air bubbles in the glass, which are emulated today by manually injecting air into the glass. This manufacturing process takes extra time but also ensures that each bottle is unique.

Every bottle of Prunier vintage is individually numbered and releases are limited to only a few hundred units.

How to Enjoy Prunier Vintage 1985 Fins Bois Cognac

As this vintage is bottled at cask strength, it can benefit from a few drops of mineral water to reduce the alcohol content. Regardless of whether you drink it neat, with water or with the addition of an ice cube, we recommend using a tulip glass to fully concentrate the aromas. An excellent digestif.
