Colour: Brilliant amber, with coppery highlights

Nose: Toffee, custard, marzipan, dried fruits, leather, tobacco, delicate rancio, candied orange peel. Despite the alcoholic strength, the overall impression is one of suppleness and natural sweetness.

Palate: Notes of orange in the attack, with a finish of elegant tannins and a mixture of fresh mint and dark chocolate.

Description

Prunier 1968 Vintage Fins Bois Cognac

A splendid single-year Cognac from one of the oldest Cognac houses in the region, the Prunier Rare Vintage 1968 Fins Bois Cognac is selected from one standout harvest in a historic year of the Fins Bois terroir. Having been aged for a lengthy amount of time, this Cognac is just over 50 years old and boasts an extraordinarily powerful palate offering an array of taste sensations both of alcohol and of wider substance. It is a rather ‘masculine’ offering that is full-bodied yet balanced, possessing an unrivalled precision and reveals an elegant finish with notes of tannins and a combination of fresh mint and dark chocolate.

This single harvest vintage from the Fins Bois region has spent several decades in a 400-liter oak cask before being bottled in July 2003. Presented at a cask strength of 61.9% ABV, only a strictly limited edition of 1180 bottles have been produced. Rare, special, and one for the Cognac connoisseur.

For over 250 years, Maison Prunier has been creating unique expressions by carefully putting each product under the magnifying glass. Spanning over eleven generations, Prunier stands as one of the oldest Cognac houses in the prestigious Cognac region and has learnt how to keep its own history alive together with its identity and esteem for its products. Without forgetting the past the house of Prunier continues without respite in striving to offer the best quality products. Through their passion for the craft, each member of the family has maintained the motto: quality and respect of local traditions. Contained inside each and every bottle rests the history and hard work of the house’s family heritage.

Presentation of the Bottle

This exceptional Cognac comes in a traditional-style bottle sealed with wax, adorned with a simple label and presented in a premium wooden box. The bottles used for Prunier vintages have been inspired by a hand-blown bottle used in the 19th Century by the family of Prunier’s manager Claude Burnez. The original bottle contained air bubbles in the glass, which are emulated today by manually injecting air into the glass. This manufacturing process takes extra time but also ensures that each bottle is unique. Every bottle of Prunier vintage is individually numbered.

How to Enjoy Prunier Vintage 1968 Fins Bois Cognac

As this is a very mature vintage Cognac, it is best enjoyed neat. However, for those who are open to a more adventurous tasting experience - the rich notes and natural sweetness of the eaux-de-vie also pair perfectly with an equally powerful piece of dark chocolate.
