Description
A sumptuous single-cask Prunier Vintage Cognac from Fins Bois
For over 250 years, Maison Prunier has been producing fine spirits from their historical site in Cognac and the 1994 Vintage Fins Bois is no exception.
Where once their Vintage collection was reserved for locals to enjoy straight from the cellar, for 20 years the house has made its prestigious Millésomes available for the world to enjoy. Amongst this range is this limited edition Cognac from the Fins Bois, which is a more subtle spirit than is typical for this growth region. It has benefited from over 20 years of aging, a substantial amount of time for eaux-de-vie from the largest of the terroirs, giving it a delightful fullness.
At the heart of the Prunier craft is blending and aging and whilst Cognac is frequently made from a blend of eaux-de-vie, some stand-out harvests are deemed good enough to hold their own. The 1996 Fins Bois harvest does just that and so nature has been left to run its course, creating a truly unique Cognac with a pleasing leather finish.
Since there are just a few hundred bottles per lot in existence, this Cognac would make the ideal gift to mark a special anniversary.
The quality of the cellars is instrumental in the making of this Cognac. According to legend, the dampness of the Prunier cellars is attributed to the underground river that runs beneath and makes the perfect conditions for aging. The Cognac is then bottled at cask strength, giving power to this spirit.
